Does anyone else get really sore wrists after riding. I usually get a little sore on my right wrist the day after riding bikes but after riding quads this weekend both of my wrists are killing me. I couldn't even do push ups today. Does this happen to other people? What do you do about it. I was looking at wrist wraps make my sixsixone but I'm kind of skeptical. Anything is appreciated, Thanks.

Wait till you get old.
My hands and wrists are my achilles heel.
Try pushups and hand squeezers.
If you have an old set of handlebars- make a push-up stand with them and do pushups with the handlebars. You can also use a set of dumbells as grips to elevate your hands off the ground with a handle-bar type grip.
Oh yeah- dont get old...

fasstco flex bars and a stabilizer... I never have hand or wrist issues since running this setup...

Hmmmmm.....I'm thinking he's not talking arm pump, I don't know, just this feeling I got from reading his post I guess.:D Also, I've never seen arm pump continue into the next day.

The question is; is it joint pain or muscle pain? For muscle pain you could do wrist curls for strength. For joint pain advil is about it.

LOL, yeah I got your point, but I never had WRIST pain before.
Y&F: did you change your riding style, sometimes I hurt different muscles when trying to change my riding techinc.

Yeah, I get sore wrists too, but it's only because I need a girlfriend real bad.

It was weird, It would hurt while i was riding but I was having way too much fun to care. Its not like anything I had had before. My wrists were pretty visibly swollen and had no flexibility or strength. The pain also went up the palm of my hand. I couldn't even pick up my back pack the next day. I think it had to do with riding to aggressively on rough terrain. The quad was kicken be back pretty hard. I'm just glad I'm not old, it must suck, I remember how sore i was after our first week of tough wrestling practice, must suck really bad. Here is a picture of where the pain was. Thanks for all the input.

Try "Moto 911" spray before yoiu ride.
It works good for me.
Also- loosen your grip on the handlebars.
A lot of grip tension can probably cause that also.

i wrap my Wrist up like how boxer would wrap his hands before a fight, i keeps your wrists and hands ridged and straight, it has help me alot. but it is not for veryone, some of my freinds have tried it out they dont like it but maybe you will.

Loosen grip #1
Stretch muscels and tendons in wrists before riding will help
My new roomate brought an interesting workout deal when he moved in and it has helped my bad wrists by strengthening them(an i have BAD wrists from years of skateboarding, and my dumb *** still does it:D) but esentially it is a handle with a 3' piece of rope tied to the middle and on the other end is a coffee can with an eye bolt sunk in cement filling the can. Twist it up, twist it down. flip hands do it again. i swear it really works.

also it can be hard to distinguish muscle/tendon/ joint pain as they are all related, ie. tight muscles can pull on tendons, can cause joint pain..

It could be the way you have your levers set up. Are they too high? Are your wrists bent too far up while just sitting. Ok, then when you're standing while riding, it's worse. Lower your levers about 1/2" and this could make a world of difference. Your wrists will be a little more in a relaxed position while riding.

ps... Good suspension and a stabilizer also help!

It was on a quad and i spend 99% of the time on a bike. It wasn't an uncomfortable set up at rest or while riding smooth stuff. It got painful when I was charging the really rough stuff of the Pismo sand highway in 5th gear pinned. I think i might have been a joint think because I noticed the same pain working out today. Thanks for all the input. Next time I ride I'm going to wrap my wrists and see what happens. If it works I'll probably look into a more permanent wrist wrap. Ride safe everyone!

Flexx bars.....you can set them to have alot more give, or not so much give, and they will take out alot of the vibrations and the 'hard hit feedback" you tend to get through regular bars. I have had several friends switch to Flexxbars after severe wrist injuries (broken bones) - the Flexxbars soak up alot of the rough stuff, and enable them to keep racing without their writst bothering them after they recovered. I would suggest a steering dampner, an antivibe steering stem, and Flexx bars...it sounds like you have some joint issues perhaps - and the jarring is exasperating the problem?

i think your problem was the 2 extra wheels =)

i dont like flexxbars, they ummmm... flex. i need to feel my front end and the flex makes it "sluggish" to me, sort of like a flat tire. i have been getting arm pump lately, but that is due to the lack of riding, i very rarely have a full grip around the bars. I ride with open hands for the most part and with hips in the bars, head over the fender. releaxing is key to hand/wrist/arm pain i believe. if your not comfortable your going to fast (doesnt apply to racing) for your skill/comfort level.
