i know this is kinda an outdated thing but over here in Australia we run a 1330cc class which the vw boxs are still more than adequate for. i know that i can turn the type 2 ?? box upside down and change the plug holes etc.
i have heard of reverse cut pinion and ring being made but have not been abale to find much..
any help would be appreciated.

You Can Run The Bus Trans Upside Down. But ..... You Have To Make A New Vent And Plug The Old One. You Must Redrill The Engine Mount Holes In The Bell Housing ( The Pattern Is Narrower At The Bottom Stud Holes). And You Should Run You Oil Level Higher Than Normal (pinion Bearing Is Out Of The Oil Now). Also Remember That The Trans Will Sit Higher In The Chassis Than Before. Good Luck :d

NO THE BUS TRANS IS A HYPOID RING AND PINION. THAT MEANS THE PINION IS 10MM LOWER THAN THE CENTER LINE OF THE RING GEAR. IT WOULD MAKE IT SO EASY IF IT WAS ABLE TO FLIP.:) I DON'T KNOW OF A REVERSE CUT RING AND PINION MADE FOR THE BUS TRANS.
