I have some similar to this on my Ford Expedition, they were factory installed. They have worked well for me. Are you able to get additional sensors for spares? Will the system still work once a spare tire (or multiple spares) is put on? Those would be my concerns, but the idea makes sense. Keep us posted on your experience with them.

you can buy the sensors seperetly in sets of two for like $79.99, it might be kinda pricey but i feel its way worth it. i also read that when a tire with a sensor had 0 psi the sensor will no longer send any signal to the computer, so if you have spares that have blown out you dont have to reset anything.

Hmmm, I presented those well over a year ago here with pictures, links, and all. I also predicted they would be popular in off-road racing within a year. Guess I was wrong. :p

Sorry? Why? Didn't mean it that way.
Just can't figure out why more dezert racers aren't using them by now. Just part of the reasons for using them:
1) Have you ever thought you had a flat when in fact you didn't?
2) Did you ever have a flat and not know it for a while? Ever roll because of that? ;)
3) Have you ever radioed ahead or told someone in the pit to check for a "low" tire, and it turned out to be okay?
4) Have you ever started a race, left a pit, or blown by a pit, with a low or leaking tire?
If any dezert racer out there can honestly say no to these questions, he or she is my new hero.
