Just got back from prerunning B1k...all the way down to Cabo.
On the course of the 5 day non stop driving and driving, taking notes both for the racers and for the pits and refueling stops, access roads as well as all the options and plan "B" s. Let me tell you, it is a wonderful experience, you come to a point were you hate it and you wish you were back home, but a minute later you get sucked in by the beautiful scenery, smells of the ocean, sounds of birds or whales.... there is only one way to describe it, its called BAJA. Our guys Carlos and Noe " Team Mexico" they already have the Baja 500 1st Place under their belts and everything looks great for the 1000. Congratulations to them and best of luck!! Here are some photos from the trip: (check out the high tech fuel reserve tanks)

Good luck to you guys. Was that "fuel tank" banging around their side the whole prerun? How about a backpack?

Hi Geronimo 5, actually the "gas tanks" worked pretty well, they were tight on their fanny pack belts, no room in their back packs, we did improvise last minute because once we got to the pre running we found out how tough those access roads were, so we really pushed for the extra range, Acerbis makes side and front reserve fuel tanks, but we didnt planned for them.... The other option are the extra large desert tanks, but those make the bike hard to manouver, specially for the first hour ot two. Check photo #2 of the large desert tank.

Wow! That's a big tank. It looks like saddle bags. I can see how balance would be an issue.
