A full race tranny based on a bus tranny will probably cost you around $5000 dollars if it is made by one of the big boys. There are other builders that do a pretty good job for around $3500. It really depends on you how much you are willing to spend and the kind of transmission you wish to have in your car. You want to ask different people their experiences with their builders like turnaround time, maintenance prices and so on.
Some numbers I know are:
DFT (Dave Folts Transmissions): 909-923-5970
Transaxle Enginnering (Jeff Fields): 818-998-2739
There are some other ones you can find in the back of the Dusty Times magazine.
The tranny in our car was built by DFT and we have been pretty happy dealing with them, they have answered all our questions and taken the time to make sure we had everything functioning properly. Call around and talk to these guys, they are all pretty knowledgeable and have been doing these trannys for a long time, they do thing a little different though so its up to you with who to go with.

El Tiburon, Jeff and Brad at Transaxle Engineering. They are the best, never have had a failure in 15 years of using there transaxles! you my get one for less but it's not the quality that they will provide. Can you afford to take a chance with all the money you spend on the rest of the car? it's not worth it to skimp.

Rebuild cost will vary depending on what needs to be replaced... Typically labor is a set price then the cost of parts.
Ditto on the Transaxle Engineering recommendation. Jeff, Brad, and Johnny do great work!
WR Race Trans is in Monrovia, Lorenzo Rodriguez is a fellow racer and does great work as well.

I have to go with Kevin at Transwest. For best price and cust. service as well, he stopped by my house before the 1000 and helped me align the shifter! And the price was better than most, Thanks Kevin!
