Does ayone know a cost range for getting 700 HP out of a stock LS-7? Just trying to comapare the costs between an LS-2 and an LS-7 knowing that the 7 will cost more in the end to get that kind of HP.

Why do u say that an LS-2 will be cheaper than an LS-7? Because the LS-2 is older and more performance parts are available? Its not rocket science to get power out of the LS-7 ya know. Worked set of heads, BIG Cam, upgrade the fuel sytem, more compression, bigger intake system, etc. But I bet you will be around 20 G's for 700 reliable HP.

The LS7 has several different parts in the addition to having a dry sump. If you have a good biult shortblock & good stage 3 heads, you can get more HP for the buck. The LS7 'Vette motors are custom built in Wixom MI and cost about 12k. $8k ish for an aftermarket build. The LS2 400 ci can get up to 750-800 hp on teh alum block. Building a LS1 with a stroked 383 is a bit better on the budget and can be made to 550-600hp. LS7 heads I don't think will work on a lsx block as they're 4.0" bores, but not positive on that. LS1TECH.com has a bunch of examples of different configs. If its a high impact offroader, I don't know if I'd trust the plastic intakes, but I have heard nothing bad about them, just opinion. Plus a plastic FAST is 3x the price of a BBC alum.
*a couple of these numbers might look low, but thats long block prices, assuming you have the wires & support.
