Do you guys suggest using a V6 or a V8 for a ranger prerunner? A V8 would be nice but it could be to much power for a ranger prerunner so i dont know. What do You guys suggest? I would like to get your oppinions on this.

V8 for sure. Doesnt weigh too much more than a 4.0 V6. There are aftermarket parts everywhere for a 5.0 V8. My only suggestion is that you do the Ford 5.0, or a newer motor with individual coils. The chevy V8's without the individual coils have the distributer on the back of the motor. You will need to clearance the crap out of your firewall to fit it.

Nothing beats a V8 with 500HP in a ranger. But you have to have all the right components to back up the power.
Transmission, Driveline, Rearend, the list goes on... and gets expensive.
If your have a mid range budget I would opt for a 4.0 SOHC and mod up from there. It is a great motor package that is extremely reliable. These motors are widely available and offers a decent amount of HP on the stock level. Plenty of bolt-on modification available, and can easily be built internally while retaining reliability.
If you have any more questions I can hook you up with our 4.0 specialist.

You can also get a mild built 5.0, good, reliable, and fun :)
im planning of doing that to my ranger, full build, but with a
stroker kit, the 347 with low compression to run PEE-MEX :D

We ran a crate 302 GT40 Ford motorsports V8 in our old Lucas oil Ranger. This truck ran well and had good power. Our Ranger Edge has the stock 4.0L SOHC V6 and has less power but feels close to the V8. The speeds are about the same give about 5-10 MPH. The get out of the hole feels about 10-15% less but still very good. I would say for the money and hassle go with the 4.0L SOHC engine. Now if you are dead set on a V8 don't waste your time on the 302 just install a LS1 because it has a great EFI system, aluminum block and way more power!
Hope this helps....
