Im looking to buy an 08 Ford or Chevy DIESEL, Does anyone know if it can run on pemex? Did anybody use an 08 lo sulphur at the baja 1000? did you experience any problems? Are there any fuel additives you could use? I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks

you will probably have issues, having those b.s resinators on there will probably throw the truck in regen mode..

all the more excuse to go out and buy a full exhaust :D

I've been waiting to hear the answers to this also. From what I heard if it detects "high" amounts of sulfur it will shut the vehicle down. Not sure though.

I hear it is a federal offense to tamper with the exhaust on the new trucks.

its been talked about before in the shop section, mexico for a couple of years now has been producing ULSD, in mexico its called UVA, you can find it on the diesel pumps, its a little green sticker with the outline of the country inside the sticker with UVA and the year it was certified.

Yes, that is ULSD, and you shouldnt have any problems, I do know though, that ULSD was being suppied to the "northern" states of mexico, Baja, Sonora, Chiuahua, ect for meanwhile, till 09 i believe, where ALL of mexico will switch over to ULSD. But if your not going way down south, there should be no problem.

That is to be expected as ULS is avail within 200miles of the boarder.

It was my understanding that the furthest south ULS was avail in Baja was El Rosario. Is there anyway you could you tell us how much fuel you bought & used below El Rosario?

Ford Sells Quarts of this stuff that helps lower the sulfer level in the gas ... never used it before .. but was told this by a pro truck team who was running the 08 ford duty's as chase trucks.... we took our 08 duty down at the 500 but we just filled up before we crossed the border and just carried a fuel jug with some more... hope that helps

All of Baja Norte's diesel comes from the states, same stuff exactly.
