Has anybody used Performance Distributors Racing D.U.I. for off-road applications? Cool distributors, but not sure if they are ready for prime time.

Yes, they work exactly like a GM HEI (they use all the same parts).

They are not better then a Duraspark as far as performance (my opinion).

The one wire hook up is what I like best about them.

Be careful of the cheap Ebay nock offs.

This is what I plan on using on my Bronco.

It's an HEI Mallory distributor for 351 Windsor motors for $179.95. I don't know how it stacks up to the DUI unit, but as far as I know Mallory doesn't make junk and at nearly half the price it's tough to pass up.

Steveg that looks like a good deal. We will put one on Eriks new Bronco engine and see how it works.

We just got one for a Ford 3.8l and due to the large diameter of the distributor it has a shaft that extends it above the valve covers. It may be just the sixers that have the clearance problem. It's a lot of weight hung way out there at an angle. The standard hold down doesn't seem to be able to hold it steady. We are working on a way to add some extra support up higher.

Also wondering about sealing it for dust and water. Is RTV sealant the standard answer for that?
