I'm not currently in desert racing, but would like to be. I'm in the San Diego area and I'm lookin for someone to get involved with that does racing, fabrication work, anything mechanical and somehow performance machine related. I am finally taking a welding class at Palomar college to learn how to weld and would really like to get involved with someone who would like a capable helping hand to teach. I am usually off of work by 3, sometimes 4 and would be willing to work on just about any kind of race/performance machine and support effort. I have a civil engineering degree, which means some mechanical engineering classes and a sense for design and problem solving. I have taken one machining class and can use a mill and lathe. I won't say I'm proficient, because I'm not, but I know my way around them. I try to do as much of my own wrenching as possible, but can't afford to do much extra besides maintenance and repair as it comes up. I have always wanted to be involved with a race team, and especially learn the fabrication/suspension/engine components. If I could afford to go to the Fab School here in SD I would. If any of you have any connections or have something that you need help with and are willing to teach as you go, please get in touch with me.
I am currently a Land Surveyor and enjoy what I do. Currently my desert toys are a 1986 TRX 250R and a 1999.5 F250. I get out when I can, but fuel is killin me right now, so not as much as I'd like.
