This message is my introduction to Klaus, the administrators and other members of
Race-Dezert. I was introduced to Klaus, and to others, and to this site several years ago by my son DBModelman. I have contributed film cuts for DP1 and DP2 and also contributed many photos for the "Old School".
I guess my first off road race that I spectated was back in 1980 (?) at Parker, AZ.
We had a weekend retreat mobile home South of Parker on the Colorado River and
would watch the race at a great vantage site on the CA side of the race. We had
dirt bikes and "dune buggies" back then.
Class 1 and Class 2 buggies were hot but Class 8 was the class that had the roaring high horse powered V8s.
I just finished building another swing axle sand rail that hasn't left the garage yet.
I'm waiting to get it registered. I also travel in a Wrangler, a Cherokee and a Dodge
Dakota.
As I said earlier, I was introduced to this site years ago and visit here regularly to
keep up with all the racing news.
