I just saw this posted on Robby's Uprising:

Is this true just read this on Nascar.com

"For Gordon, team ownership in the Nationwide Series allows him to glean test information for his single-car Cup team as well as support his other habits -- other forms of motorsports. His team includes Robby Gordon Off-Road, a multi-purpose operation in California that does customer work and fields vehicles in everything from Championship Off-Road Racing (CORR) to the Dakar Rally.
In January, the annual Dakar Rally was canceled on the eve of the race because of terror threats, something that frustrated Gordon beyond belief. But thankfully a new date has been set for the desert endurance race, April 19.
"And that's the season's off weekend so it's going to work out well," said Gordon, who is used to the high and low balancing act of car ownership and a driving career." (NASCAR.COM)

I searched for anything on this forum and came up with nada. Anyone have any news about this new development?

If the race starts on the 19th, which is a Saturday, it should end on a Saturday, being an 8 day race, the day before Talladega. Stand on the podium, fly to the airport, jump on a private jet and fly to Talladega. If he leaves Hungary on a Saturday evening/night, with the time difference, he should get to Talladega on a Saturday evening/night with the flight time being roughly the same as the time difference. He will be pretty jet lagged, but he can sleep on the plane and once he gets to Talladega. He will just need somebody to practice and qualify the car, which is not a big deal. If he was ever going to do something like this, I really think that Talladega is the best place to do it.
