That's a tough motor. I guess I should ask what you're wanting to do with it first...

For a crate - Jasper is good stuff, so long as you stay mild, or OEM spec. I put one of their 302's in my EB a few years back, and it's been fantastic, I daily drove it for years (it's now under the knife for a restoration) http://www.jasperengines.com/gas-engines.htm

If you're wanting to re-do it locally, a stroker kit is a cool thing to have. Here's one:http://www.rpmmachine.com/amc-stroker-kit-258.shtml I've seen a few different ones, and they do make a pretty dramatic change. There's a couple of guys around here running them, and they like them pretty well.

Another popular thing is to add a 4.0 from a later model, and get the EFI at the same time. Lots of folks doing these.

An article on building a stroker on a budget:

An excellent source for this kind of work (not local to you though, but he's a hell of a Jeep mechanic)

It's some ideas to kick around. Hope it helps.

Hey Waldo,

Shoot me a PM with what your looking for. Im sure I can get you a great deal on either a stock replacement or a custom Stroker (I kinda have an in haha) We are now sponsoring the Jeep Speed Series and will be building most of the racers engines. Currently doing 4.5 and 4.6 Strokers, can put the newer intake manifold on to get more power, port the heads and intake etc....
