I have a new bug, 1914 motor with a single Weber 40. Stock transaxle. First gear is great, but when I shift into second it putters like I am in the wrong gear, then gets fuel and screams again. Same goes for shifting into third.

Three questions. 1. is this a jetting issue or something else? I am almost pos. it is jetting since the owner before me said it ran fine till he re-jetted it. And it runs great other than when I first shift.

2. Does anyone have a ball park of the jets I need for a mild built 1914 with a 40 weber? Just close enough that I don't get that huge lag? I can fine tune from there. Anyone running a 1835 or 1914 with a 40 weber? Help!

3. Does anyone have a recomendation of a carb or motor guy in So Cal that can jet my carb for me? Anywhere from the South bay to the OC to the Inland Empire? This car will be 80% dirt 20% street so I am looking for someone that knows the dirt. Steet guys scare me!

Thanks! ~Pahl

Call Greg at FAT @ 714-637-2889 in Orange. He can sell you the parts you need or rebuild the carb for you. Try to have all the engine info when you call like what camshaft etc. if you know it. Look up the webers online and print a schematic so you can tell what all the parts are. All my stuff has 44's so I don't know what the 40 needs.

Sounds like a plugged filter or lack of fuel volume.

sounds like a plugged idle jet. their real small a little bigger than a hair.On the out side of the carb by the fuel inlet are 2 brass slotted plugs. remove them they hold the idle jets check them then use a straw to blow out the idle circuit don't use compressed air just the straw and lung power reinstall jets into holder than tighten holders snug.If problem is still there check accelerator pump nozzles to make sure they squirt a steady stream both the idle jets and nozzles are small usually 55,60 idle 65 ,70 nozzle use a very good inline filter to keep small crud out of them

I had the same problem and it was a jetting problem. Put in a larger jet and it was fixed. Call FAT and they should be able to help you.

I cleaned the idle jets and the car starts better! but the driving problem is still there. I found a guy near me that knows a thing about the desert. He gets one chance then I am going to FAT. Thanks for all the help, now I need to figure out how to instal an EMPI baffle in my Trimil. My car is way to load.
