2 stroke, 4 stroke, wankle....um steam? for a car, bus, earthmoving equipment? Diesel, gas, propane, coal?
Im gonna guess its for some kind of single-cyl powered buggy, try your local lawn mower shop for used engines. Or check with Northern Equipment for new stuff.

Yamakoyo...These are copies of Honda and Kolher motors. We use them to replace dead engines on small equipment all the time. Cheap, and they work good. Plus all the parts are interchangable.

He needs horizontal, not vertical!!! Are you using a go cart to mow your lawn? Probably.
Dont use Harbor Freight. Dont buy China.

Tecumseh and Briggs&Stratton are both made in china I think. Harbor freight sells some nice Subaru motors (like the ones in trophy karts) that I imagine are made in Japan.

Try your local lawnmower shop, they usually are part of dealer networks and can get engines in this size. Depending on what you need it for, Kohler and Kawasaki are best brands for the horsepower requirement. I was a small equipment tech for awhile and have seen all of the major brands of engines. From my experience the Kohler is definitely the workhorse of the industry followed closely by the Kawasaki. I saw a commercial riding mower, used and abused daily by employees, powered by a Kohler with 3500 hours on it. Proper maintenance goes a long way.
I'm pretty sure Tecumseh and Briggs and Stratton engines are made in the USA.

go kart motors. Not sure of the hp on them. Some are pretty good. I had a yamaha kt100, it moved my big ass around on a kart.
