The other day we were mounting up our new kmc beadlocks when my dad went to set the bead and bolt down the ring and i noticed the BFgoodrich was sideways compaired to the kmc on the wheel, so i really quick spun the wheel a 1/4turn and put on the ring. My dad just stared at me like i was crazy, so am i? OR do other people do this as well?

I do it too. If there's no manufacturer stamp on the outside of the wheel, I'll line up the lettering with the valve stem. It started for me with bicycle tires, and carried over to everything else (even tractor tires)
It's not right or wrong, but a matter of taking pride in your work.:D

yes i do have a small case of ocd, lol
but at 100mph if someone took a picture it would look good for them. lol as long as they have a good enough camera to get the motion stopped on the tires. lol

The beadlock wheels can be tricky
Are you guys mounting the tire on the rim right on the ground?
If so after you get the rim in the tire you need a platform to let the wheel prop up on. This way the tire will sit more evenly on the wheel when locking the beadlock down.
A five gallon bucket upside down works ok.

we didnt bolt them up on the ground, we have made sure we got the bead to seat correctly.

I usually do the same thing; line up the BFG lettering with the valve stem which makes it easier to find the valve stem, especially when hidden behind the beadlock ring.

LOL, I just mounted a set of bike tires before reading this. I do that everyday. I do it because bike tires are directional and it helps people know immediately where the valve stem is.

If anybody does car shows - people have lost points for not being lined up.
The Toyo's on my DD are lined up. It is a pride thing!

I line them up on all race tires I mount also. I use baby powder on my tires with tubes and smell real nice after I do those!

That would make a bad photo actually.

Some tire manufacturers put a mark at the heaviest part of the tire so you can put that opposite the valve stem for better balance. To elaborate on what Matt means, stopping the tire spin in a photo makes the truck look like it is just parked in the desert. Not very exciting.

Okay....I don't feel like I have OCD so much now.
I race just quads at this point, and run HiPer Beadlocks. If you've never seen a HiPer wheel before...the beadlock ring has the "HiPer" Logo in one spot. When I put all my stuff together, the Valve Stem, the HiPer logo, and the Maxxis logo all line up perfectly...
What's more...If you don't know how a HiPer wheel goes together.. there is a center billet piece that the carbon fiber wheel halfs bolt together around. I spent over an hour taking them apart to line up the bolt pattern of that billet piece, so they were equal on both sides.
And, of course, I always make sure my hubs align on the exact splines on each side of the axle....SO, when I put the rear tire/wheel setup on; Valve stem, HiPer logo, and Maxxis logo line up PERFECTLY on both sides of the bike.
Okay.....so I still feel like I have an extreme case of OCD after describing that. I'll go with the pride deal though. :D

Don't know about the tire mounting. Don't know about the OCD, but the truck looks real nice.
Best of luck!
