Survey says = "Tin Foil".
Just kidding. Congrats on the good deal on the house. Getting a mortgage today is tough and your parents played the market right.

Give this guy a call, I don't know if he is still doing it with the slowdown. Gene @ 775-751-1222 or 760-240-4847. He does stuff in Pahrump and the high desert, did a great job for me on my houses.

They're not at all hard to do yourself...
Go around the house, and get measurements of every window opening, measure both sides, plus the width at the top, middle and bottom. This will help, believe me, few window openings are truly square and true. I put a piece of tape on each window sill, and assigned each one a number, to keep them seperate, and organized in my notes.
Take all of your measurements to the Home Depot, or Lowes, and sit down with the folks in the window covering department. They'll walk you through what kind fits your budget and decorating style, and cut them to fit in house. They're about as reasonable as it gets. I always managed to have them do it while I wait.
I went with 2" faux wood blinds in my house, and installed them all myself.
For the brackets, take the time to make a gauge block for setting them to space them uniformly away from the window. A handfull of Deck Mate or similar quality screws to mount the brackets into the header, slip in the blind, and you're golden. By the time I hung my last one (I have 13 windows in my tiny house), I was able to hang it, adjust it, and walk away in less than 30 minutes (I pulled the bottom unused slats out, that took the most time)
If you're really hurting for something fast, pick up the temporary blinds, for ~$5-10 each, and they have a self adhesive backing on them to hold them up until you can get new window coverings.

Yep 30 min to hang the blinds and another 30 min to remove the excess slats, cut the strings, put the bottom piece back in and push the plugs in the bottom slat. Hanging them is not bad its shortening them thats a pain it the butt. By the 3rd or 4th window your about over it! It took me 4 hours to hang all the blinds in my house and it took me 2 days to go back and trim them all out. But for the price you cant beat it, and the 2 inch white faux wood blinds do look really nice when done.
