putting in a v8 is a lot of work, i did it on mine. It is really nice to have the power but it comes at a high price, the truck has to be built a lot stronger, needs way stronger parts. and by stronger i mean more expensive.

The 4.0 v6 is a solid engine. Witha little work (heads, cam, headers) it will give you alot of power for the money. What engine are you runnning currently??

Do they sell aftermarket heads for these? Or just have work done to the heads? I know this isn't my thread, but I am building a 4.0 and want alll the advie I can get. Outside of heads, cam and headers.....any other recommendations? thanks

there is a bolt on header system you can get for the 4.o works well we used it on a truck we did. custom cams can be made. if your using the overhead cam motor http://www.supersixmotorsports.com/ has a lot of stuff for that motor, you would need to call him i dont think he does older 4.0 stuff
he specializes in the 3.8 and 4.2 v6 out of the mustang and f150s we run that motor in our race truck it is a good motor, very powerful and strong.

the nice thing about the 3.8 and 4.2 is they use the same bolt patern for the trans as a sb ford does. so you can just bolt a c-6 to the back of it. or a tremek if you like a manual trans.

Nice truck. Id go with the 4.0 but if the parts on it are beefy enough go V-8 with a 302 or a 2** (cant remember) Go c-6 or C-4
