Im looking for your opinions here. Fram HP1 or WIX 51515R oil filter? I know that the WIX has more pleats in the filter so provide more filtration, but the relief valve in the WIX is 8-12PSI and the FRAM is 22PSI. What does that mean? I know that the WIX is a better filter im just wondering what is that relief valve rating means.

I used to think Fram was a good filter, I guess they have gone way downhill. Here is some good info.

The Fram filter is not as good as the Wix, Consumer Report did test on oil filters and Fram was one of lowest rated filters and Wix was the best! Fram your paying for all there advertising.(NASCAR)

I use WIX in every engine except my race car, I use the HP-1, I use it because in the morning warming up the car I blew a coulpe of the WIX because it could not hold up to the pressure, my engine is full flowed and has an after market pump on it. I like the WIX. Depends on what you are using it on

We have gone to the K&N filter after blowing the seals on the Frams. No problems since, but they are a little pricey @ $12/ea. We look at it as cheap insurance.

X2. The K & N oil filter has a burst rating of 550psi. Higher than any other filter in it's class. I have yet to blow one up, but I'll keep trying.
