YouTube - Central Europe Dakar Series Glamis Testing
Right after the Califonia NASCAR race Robby Gordon and his Team Dakar USA spent some time in the Southern Californian sand dunes testing both the Monster Energy/Toyo Tires and Ronn Bailey's Vanguard Hummers. The test was in preparation for the April 19th-26th Dakar Series Central Europe Rally which is a make up event for the canceled 2008 Dakar Rally - which was postponed due to terrorist threats from the Al Queda faction in Mauritania.

That would be me, I actually enjoy getting some sleep...:D
I noticed at the end he said "If Ronn shows up to race this car he will be very impressed" or something of that sorts. Like I posted in the other thread, I don't think Ronn is going to be showing up to race the 2nd Hummer, at least that's what he told me in San Luis.

Will be interesting to see who does race it then...not much time left to get someone on board that you can place that much faith in...Though this would seem to indicate that BOTH Hummers are RG's and under his control (and coming out of his pocket) and not just the Monster one...if the 2nd Hummer was under Ronn's control you would think it would have been left in Europe at his shop since he (I believe Bajafox reported this earlier) has said he will run the Trans-Oriental rally or some such later in the year....

I wouldn't count on there being 2 Hummers at this race, at least not with Ron Bailley behind the wheel of one of them
I spoke to Ron before the start of the new CODE race this passed weekend, real cool guy and straight forward. Got to talk about what happened before DAKAR, his future with RG and other stuff. He's planning to do the Transoriental (sp?) in his own vehicle and he told me he wasn't doing business with RG anymore.
He said a few things of RG that would make Chase2 his biggest fan...
But he did say this "he's a hell of a driver"
He also told me his Hummer was never even tested before DAKAR and not even finished. Dont know if that's public info or not
Anyway, I'm now a fan of Ron Bailley and wish him the best in all his future racing endevours (sp?)

Things really don't sound very good between Robby & Ronn. "Told him where and when to be here and he didn't show up"

FlynHi said something in another thread about Ken Block (Suburu Rally driver) possibly driving the backup H3. Could this be what he was talking about? He didn't elaborate.

A bunch of us were talking about who would be a good american choice. He (Fly) brought him up as a possible good choice, not as the one who would replace Ronn. RG sure has made a point of calling Ronn out, making sure to be P.C. every time. It will be interesting to see what comes of that. I would imagine Ronn's contract with RGM/TDUSA involves millions over the next 3 years.

Sorry, I misunderstood Fly's post on the other thread.

"Might" is the key word. There were several drivers being looked at. Have heard rumblings about several others, buth at this point, they are just that.;) As the race date nears, Ronn just might have a change of heart, and with the money involved, I am sure that is what RG would hope for.....At this point I am sure that only Ron Bailey and/or RG know for sure. With that said, I am sure a plan "B" is in place.

Bottom line, Ronn feels if he don't show up to the make up race he thinks he is clear. If RG shows up ready to rock and roll and Ronn doesn't show up, RG thinks he is clear...
I wonder if Ronn having 3 different builders in 3 years has anything to do with his track record???
When the smoke clears RG will be racing no matter what and the second Hummer will be there as a mule even if Robyn has to drive it.

I second Robyn, I've heard she's the best driver in the entire family. Although I have never seen it, I've heard she smokes RG at go-kart tracks.

Monster Energy, Toyo Tires, 4 Wheel Parts, Hummer, Mitsubishi, Volkswagen and virtually every other sponsor has accepted the Central Europe Rally as the make-up event for the canceled Dakar Rally. The only entity which has show hesitation has been Ronn Bailey. Time will tell who drives the Ronn Bailey's Vanguard Hummer but I'm going to guess that once Ronn gets debriefed by a good attorney he probably will - because either way he is contractually obligated too.
