Good for Robbie but I still think NASCAR SUCKS. They have ruined one of our countries greatest sports.

Not as much as Tony George ruined open wheel racing.

My perception of Nascar has improved with this decision. They gave the black sheep of Nascar a favorable decision, I cannot ask for any more than that.

NASCAR finally does the right thing. 100 points is worth way more than $150,000.

Commission gives Robby Gordon points back
by Lee Spencer

The National Stock Car Commission has overruled the penalty levied against Robby Gordon after the Daytona 500 and have reinstated the 100 driver/owner points NASCAR fined him after discovering the nose on the No. 7 Dodge had not yet been approved.

Crew chief Frank Kerr will also be allowed to remain at the track as the Commission dismissed his six-race suspension as well. However, the monetary fine against the team was raised from $100,000 to $150,000.
"I think it was fair to be honest with you," said Kerr, after the four-and-a-half-hour hearing. "It just proves that the system does work, and I'm happy with the results."

The additional 100 points raises Gordon's position in the standings to 21st and keeps him well within the Top 35 in the owners standings. That position is crucial because the top 35 teams in the owner standings are guaranteed a starting position every race, regardless of where they qualify.

Robby Gordon Motorsports Statement

The following is a statement from Robby Gordon regarding today’s decision by the National Stock Car Racing Commission restoring his 100 owner and driver points as well as reversing the six-week suspension of crew chief Frank Kerr. The commission did increase the fine from $100,000 to $150,000. Gordon is now 21st in driver points.

Robby Gordon:

“We see this as good news. We are grateful the commissioners rescinded the points penalty and suspension but disappointed by the fine. Still, we see this as a victory for Robby Gordon Motorsports. We feel like justice was done and appreciate NASCAR creating a system that allowed us to take our appeal to the National Stock Car Racing Commission. Now we plan to put this issue behind us and concentrate on making the “Chase” in 2008 as well as getting the Jim Beam Dodge into victory lane. I want to thank the thousands of fans and our sponsors who have supported us through this episode and want everyone of you to know how much we appreciate all that you have done. Our goal is to be a model team in the future and never go through something like this again.“

Robby will be available for media interviews Friday at noon at the back of the No. 7 hauler.

Points are priceless, 100 points is worth a lot more than $ 50,000 to Robby. I'm also sure that Dodge, GEM or Jim Beam will pay the fine. The most important thing is that Robby will remain in the top 35. In retrospect, the publicity that Robby and the team got, far exceeds the cost of the fine. There is still hope for a single car team !!!
