Per Jayski
Robby to sell? hearing that Alex Gillett [George Gillett's son] has purchased Robby Gordon Motorsports [#7 Dodge] and will run it as a separate entity from Gillette-Evernham Motorsports. Plans are to eventually expand it to a multi-car team. Assuming Robby Gordon will stay on as driver...if this is true. Currently Gordon owns the team, but has a technological and marketing partnership with Gillett Evernham Motorsports and is 24th in driver/owners points.(3-10-2008)

Interesting, was looking forward to RG building it into a multi car team.

Would be alot easier to show up and race on Sunday than having to run the entire program.
It sucks but the days of a single car owner/driver are over. I read today that even Petty Enterprises is taking on a partner just to stay alive.
This makes the most sense if RG wants to win anytime soon

Just spoke with someone from RGM, this is not true.

I wonder is this will be like a Evernham deal where they just add there name to the business name like GGM (Gillett Gordon Motorsports) and Alex runs the business side of things and RG continues to run the racing side of it.
Also I wonder how NASCAR will like the fact that a single family could possibly own 8 cars! I wonder is this is the long term plan?

Not saying that the people at RGM are not telling the truth, but I remember all parties involved denying the RGM / Yate deal too. Then once the deal fell threw then RGM admitted that they were going to buy Yates until Robert got cold feet.

Oh man, this is not fun. I want to go back to open wheel racing, but have it like it was back in the early 90s. Im tired of this Nascar non sense. How about Robby running a Penske Jim Beam IRL car, and running the two Cup road courses and four restrictor plate tracks out of whats left of RGM.
By the way, if anyone thinks this news is good, look back to what happened with Geoff Bodine and (theoretically) the very same #7 team when he brought investors in. If you werent around back then, Ill sum it up simply,; he did not finish his Cup career with the team.
And if this does prove true, Ill go back to my typical battle cry. I wish he would have sold the 50% share Red Bull wanted in the team whe he had the chance. He would have been their #1 driver, and not be in this corner. Of course that might have turned out poorly too, but who knows. All I know is I cant stand Monster, haha.

"I cant stand Monster" is an understatement!

I can drink that stuff any day of the week compared to Red Bull. Have not heard anything indicating that RG would consider selling the team after getting the penalty points back.

I agree Monster is SOOOOOOO much better than Red Bull!!! I wouldn't think RG would sell either, especially now when he is off to a pretty good start to the season.

Interesting rumor. The biggest negative for RG imho, would be the loss of freedom to undertake other projects. If he is hired to drive, test, and make sponsor obligations, he can't miss them to do the other things he does or wants to do. Maybe mid-pack solo operation is good enough for him. Didn't I read somewhere that Gillette's son is the one who talked RG into changing to Dodge?

My DR. says I can stop taking the meds if I just stop reading RDC. After many hours of my Doc reading RDC to see what was the root of the cause he came up with this...
" That RGFan guy, or girl, is the core of the problem.. all he seems to do is cut and paste Flys posts as his own! stop reading RDC and I'll cancel your prescription."
I told him to keep me on the meds, as this @#$! is FAR too entertaining!
oh and btw.. Please RG.. Dont sell!

Yeah, I would not be suprised if somebody else comes into the fold. Should be interesting. Jayski has posted these rumors atleast 100 times since RG came back as an owner in 2005.

I kinda thought the rumors with the RYR deal blew it apart, at least appeared to...I hope this isn't sabotage.

The nice thing about this, RG is really the decision maker in this deal, unlike the RYR deal

I'm not worried. He built this team to where it is, which is no small accomplishment, and what ever he does or doesn't do is his business, and I will continued to pull for him. Seems he has always figured out how to keep his name out there with some great people helping him...:D

Has been denied....... Like the dozen other times before. I do not think he would sell. But letting in an investor of some sort to handle the business of running a race team I think would be another move in the right direction.

Still being denied by both parties... Who cares if they are rumors? It's kind of like the penalty (now that RG got the points back)- It's great because it just keeps the #7 and his sponsors on TV!

Robby definitely did not sell. I know that for a fact. There may or may not be something in the works that will benefit RGM, but it is not a sale.

If he could get Gillette as an investor, or silent partner? Would help alot with marketing as well. 51% is always still 51%. Look at the worldwide exposure. Baja, NASCAR, and Dakar. RGM as a whole is a much different picture than RGM Roundy-round.

R. Gordon debunks team's sale
One of the hot rumors last week was the sale of Robby Gordon Motorsports to Alex Gillett, son of Gillett Evernham Motorsports primary owner George Gillett Jr. On Friday at Bristol, the owner/driver Gordon said it was business as usual for him.
"I haven't sold my race team," Gordon said. "People talk and there are a lot of interesting things going on, but right now, it's business as usual. I bet last year, 20 people came to me asking me if I was interested in selling my team, so it is what it is."
