Has anybody tried using a inline electric water pump?

They work good for drag racing, never seen one for continued use. I am not saying there isn't one.

They're are several out there. I used a Mezeire one for a couple of years with really good results.

Pros
1.Run off a thermostatic switsh, your motor will heat up instantly
2.More HP
3.Packaging

Cons
1.Requires more electric output
2.Can't replace in Baja
3.Must use electric radiator fans (most models) See #1......

I am debating this also. Mine will be in a 400hp small Chevy. Street, chase, fun vehicle. The pros out weigh the cons in my application (I think???).

These are fairly popular on road race cars. I have had good experience with the Meziere units and they make kits for many motors. The biggest benefit is a reduction in parasitic power loss and the elimination of a belt. Of course now there is electrical parts and more plumbing to go wrong...

if you were using an inline pump, you could just have it set up so a spare pump is mounted and wired, even plumbed if you like all you gotta do is open ,close a valve and flip a switch.
