Hey I,m building a 302 for my first build on a ranger with plans to race it in score like races and what not, anyhow what kind of rpms should i plan to turn, just wanting to set up my motor right. I figured i would probably want a pretty broad power band. And another thing im planning on 430 to 450 hp will a C4 work or should i do the extra work for a C6, i,m planning on using camburgs race kit and i know you have to move the transmission cross member back for a c6, camburgs race kit intrigrates the radius arms into the xmember, so im just not sure that a c6 will work with the kit. Any words of wisdom?

If your planning on 450hp I myself would invest in a c6, as far as rpm, that all depends on where you want that engine to make its power. You can really winde those 302s up but if the engine doesnt make power at a real high rpm there is no point.

Build a 331 stroker and keep it under 6500.
