Sal was very humble in his last letter " dear San Felipe Competitor" but you know what,he could toot his horn about the additional security. I for one did notice the cop on every corner in Mexicali and all the cops in SF and the fact that there were very few problems. This had to take alot of work before the race. The statement in his letter that " We are anticipating even more cooperation from the mex authorities in Ensenada for the 500" makes me a little more comfortable about bringing the fam down. What do you think?

1) Sal is the man
2) Races outside of Baja are not as cool - Mint was sweet though
3) some DA is going to Baja including #16 and Heidi/Tim - no Burgess, Hardesty or Ashcraft though (maybe 1000)
4) We are more nervous than ever before in Baja but believe it is much the same that it has ever been
5) same law observed in Baja when riding dirt bikes where you are not supposed in the States - NEVER SURRENDER

GOD bless those who lost family and those that were lost. RIP to those fallen in Baja, you will never be forgotten.

I agree I feel a little more comfortable about Ensenada for the 500. San Felipe being without any significant problems helps a little with Sal's credibility.

But frankly, Ensenada and Tijuana are a hell of a lot different than San Felipe and Mexicali. I'm still going to take every precaution possible. I'll be driving down in the daylight, with every truck on my team in a caravan, everyone with a radio. Same thing on the way back. Since it's a loop race we'll be able to send pit and chase trucks out in plenty of time to their spots so they can drive as slow as the locals.

Then if everything goes well, and it does appear that things are somewhat better, I might consider bringing my wife down for the 1000.

I hope Sal and the gang do pull off a fantastic race, I hope there are no issues anywhere. Everyone be safe, be careful and most of all have fun.

Thanks again Sal !!!

I hope it is a lot better than last year. I am still taking the year off from Baja just to observe before I go down again. I will keep my fingers crossed because I do love Baja.

I'm more nervous about the theives on the streets...

Maybe I'll hire a guard 24/7... to stand next to my vehicle, and arm him with a baseball bat. If he screams... then I'm being broken into (Baja Alarm Siren).

... if you go, just don't take safety and security for granted. Sal has NO CONTROL over the locals and the problems, even with more 'police'... it's not anymore safe than years prior in my honest opinion. That's why it's MEXICO!

I'm still on the fence if I'll attend anymore SCORE events, especially in Ens.

PCI Racing and General Tire will be at the Baja 500 in June supporting Score and Baja California. I aplaud Score for working hard to blow the dark clouds that have blinded many on what in my opinion is the best desert racing in the world. Good luck and a safe trip for those who take the adventure! Viva Baja!

With all due respect... YES IS MEXICO! we are different people (I'm BROWN & PROUD) that's the reason why Sal can do this type of events, if you are going to hire a guard, better hire 2 with a baseball bat, stun gun, loud horn & pepper spray, it's not safer for sure, but is up to us (all of us that like this kind of events) to watch each others back (Mexican, American, German, all of us) play it safe, don't leave your stuff unattended, drive in caravans at daylight, if you are chasing... well chase DON'T RACE, you are not driving in The States, drive defensive, Remember that WE MEXICAN, drive different, eat different, DRINK DIFFERENT, SPEAK DIFFERENT, WE ARE DIFFERENT!!!, but we also know how to have a good time and how to welcome our guests in this beautiful country (At least most of us), so come down (if you can handle it) or stay home and follow the race in the web, Gracias.:D
