Ok, after the past few weeks, I need to get this off my chest.

On all the press releases, Mr. Gillette and Ray Evernham commented how Robby saw how well they were testing, mainly on the 1.5 mile ovals, and that was why he wanted to enter into a technical alliance with them.

Did anyone watch Vegas, Atlanta, or today? Awful results in my opinion. Yes the car was fast in Atlanta, but that was after 15-20 laps. Was this merger about the technology and how to improve the team, or was it more about sharing sponsors so Robby wouldnt have a blank car as many times this year after Menard moved to an associates role?

Personally, the season is a positive if he gets one win on one of the road courses, but it is kind of frustrating to see more of the same week in week out on the ovals...

I have to agree, while it is only 7 races in, I expected this technological alliance to pay much bigger dividends. I am beginning to second guess myself, not in an angry or even frustrated way, if RG as talented as I and others believed him to be, atleast in stock car racing. There are times when I watch the guy drive and do absolutely incredible things in a race car on the asphalt, but those moments seem to be getting farther and farther apart. I just do not know anymore. I hope I am wrong, but as the years go by, I keep wondering when his time is going to come.....He is running out of years

Yea, but how many people can ride the wall like he did lap after lap? I just think he has really bad equipment right now. Well that and he is getting older...

True, but as you stated, there was a reason he was having to ride the wall......And look what happened, it bit him in the arse and ended up being the reason he went 5 laps down when it was all said and done........ There just seems to be excuse after excuse as to why he does not perform on the ovals year after year. All valid excuses thru the years, but when does it stop being everything else and when does it start being the driver......Sabco, RGM I, Morgan McClure, RCR, RGM II, RGM/GEM....I have been there thru it all. It just gets a little old.......Alot of the issues listed above can be attributed to the drivers business sense (or lack there of) and not driver talent persay

I can see where frustration comes from. He sucks on the 1 1/2 mile tracks. On the same note, today at the end, 11 cars were on the lead lap. More than 1/2 the field was 2 laps down. If NASCAR approves of the "Superteams", RGM is done.

all pure speculation and some quotes from some well connected industry people.. here are my thoughts.

With off road and CORR growing the way it is, there is now enough for Robby to come back and make a full time living at off road racing.

GEM is the perfect buyout partner for RG. I seriously doubt that Alex Gillette not buying RGM is to far from the truth, i bet he buys at least half of it by the end of the year.

My speculation....GEM and RG never signed anything. GEM and RG's current team will never merge with the group of sponsors each have. Robby loves Off Road but CUP is HUGE! RG will get the fuel mileage he needs this year to win on the road courses. He has some tricks he couldn't use with R/Y Ford power.

I would say in 6 years RG will get out of CUP and spend the rest of his carrer racing in the dirt.
