Did RG ever race with the number 42? simple and stupid wasnt it? Thanks in advance.

He ran the 42 for a few races for Sabco in 96. He went full time in 97 for them and ran the Coors/Coors Light #40. Then the mighty Joe Nemechek (sarcasm) came in, Bs'd his way to being the number one driver over there........The beginning of many years of mediocrity for that team that has continued to this day.

ok, i was just wondering. i found a die cast car just like Michael Loomis had said he found online, we got it at about 96..... thanks for the answers!

Yea, the 46 First Union car was run a few times in 1996 to prepare Robby for full time in the #40 Coors car in 1997. The Tonka car was a one-off scheme that was run in Suzuka after the 1996 season. I think there are pictures of each on RobbyGordon.com...

That page also has a pic of Robby running the first race for DEI in the #14 car. Almost no one remembers that, although he didnt actually run the race...

crazy pic! what a blast from the past. I imagine you walking up to him with some stuff to sign (like the new napa commercial with the wrecked waltrip car), you hand him that relic.. lol
