This is the SPD built Dakar vehicle built for Wide Open and Darren Skilton.
Testing for the upcoming makeup dakar rally from Hungary to Romania.
We (Darren Skilton, Tommy Morris, Jose G. and I) were in Spain doing some functions tests, swaybar changes and shock tuning of course.

Very nice! I have a few Q's though. What are the travel numbers? What kind of drivetrain is it running and how long has this vehicle been in development?

How about some under body pics if possible. Anything similar to the SPD TT's? And are those 39" tires?

I saw this car at the Wide Open party at last years Baja 500. It had front and rear A arms that looked interchangeable from front to rear and left to right. It had a mid engine LS7 and Xtrac trans

Nice photos -- now show us some video of that thing rallying around the dirt. Good luck in E. Europe -- hope you have a Schlesser and Touareg- killin' time over there. Watch out for the big Black Monstermobile(s).

If you look closely, that is the front plate, not the rear one... :D
Is it required to have plates?

Very cool.
Who did the body design? It looks very simular to a company named Mosler that builds road race cars.

I had said before that any Peterson effort would be one to be watched. I had heard rumors that Tommy Morris was building cars for a Dakar program, but I somehow missed the connection between to two which was Darren I suppose. Best of luck to the team!

35" tall tires. Not a similar design to the trucks but built with the same attention to detail, fabrication and prep.

Yes

I believe they're well off the pace lying down in the 70s somewhere overall, but I don't know what class they are in.

They're in the same class as the Hummers and V-Dubs and all of them. They did really well yesterday, finishing 14th. The mud and snow in todays stage got the better of them though, and they are now in 72nd.:(
