well robby seems to do well on the plate races and daytona was a great finish. Hopefully if he has a good car he can hang around till the end and make a strong run for the finish

RG crashes out in the warm-up laps due to his hangover from winning the Dakar make-up

Another top 10 would be a nice jumpstart to how this season is going

RGFan
April 14th, 2008, 15:37
I think a top 12 is doable. He has the speed usually of a top 5 car lately at the restrictor plates( last year and a half), but he just does not get enough help and that is crucial at a track like that.

No pace car speed on the final lap..........They are going to say that it was the final lap and they went to the last recorded position before the yellow was shown.......BUT BURTON STILL DID NOT CROSS THE FINISH LINE..... I am so sick and tired of the Nascar BS:mad:

NOL has RG finishing 11th, moving up to 27th in points. Unless they want all hell to break loose, they need to go by finishing order. I have on idea what they do with cars that didn't cross the line, but had more laps than cars that did.

Another gimme for Robby........he had ANOTHER 30 something place car that won on attrition.
Let's blast people for winning on fuel mileage and give props to those who win on attrition.
RGM is off to a gimme season...I would just like to see him earn a well deserved and fought for top 10. Not a "if only four more cars fall out" top 20. He didn't earn an 11th place finish, he was given it.

He had a top 15 car at least at the end, if Harvick and/or Sadler didnt keep dumping him he would have drafted to the front. He demonstrated that while trying to get his lap back.

RGM has a gimme season? I think he has fought for what he has earned this year (which isnt much to begin with), and his moves through the last lap wreck alone gives him the right to an 11th place finish, which is not really a win as you describe. Whats your issue?

I'm not a huge fan of Robby but he definately hasn't had a gimme season. The beginning of the season crap in Daytona was bs. He got reamed. He deserved his 11th yesterday. Talledega is a crazy track, one minute you're leading and the next minute you're in 25th.

RGM will hit on something... They will finish the season in the top 25... It always happens Summer time hits and RG get about 6 or 8 decent finishes... Road courses are coming up and the guys in front of him right now will eat crap. Robby is one spot behind Sadler...

He led ZERO laps.........was NEVER in the top 15 except during green flag pit stops and was unable to hook up with a draft to get anywhere near the the top ten. Kenseth was not in the game.....and at least five or six of the major players were taken out in the last two cautions. Robby had trouble keeping up with POS the whole day.

I would love to see the stats on how many top 15 cars have been taken out by wreaks or mechanical issues in the last 50 laps so far this year, and who has been the biggest benefactor of that. My bet is that Robby would be close to the top of the benefactor list.

Any of you that have been around know my feelings and SUPPORT for Robby, and I turn on every race he is in hoping the very best for him. For the last few years Robby has had a huge black cloud over him, and this year he seems to be getting breaks that historically have been dealt to others.

Granted how you get there means little if you get there first, but you just can't base your performance on others failures.

JasonHutter
April 28th, 2008, 11:05
I will say this, we were sitting almost accross from Robby's pit and it seems as though they could use a little more speed in getting him out of there. They took only two tires more than once to be sure to get him out at least where he came in. Also during the race he seemed a bit heated saying his car was slow and he couldn't hold onto the back of the draft. He seemed ok once he got into the middle of the draft though.

I don't know how closely you followed/tracked Robby during the race but you are incorrect. Robby was up with the leaders early then dropped back to avoid a possible wreck. He made a poor move one time in the back and lost the draft. But, when Robby was fighting to get his lap back he easily moved through the pack.

At the very end he was hung out to dry no fewer than 3 times, and as you know if you don't have someone pushing you(or vice versa) you will drop hard like a rock. Robby's car was great when leading a line, not nearly as good though when he was pushing someone else. He made 1 good move and another great move to avoid the final wreck, it's that skill that got him a good finish.

Is it shocking that he is towards the back? I mean its a single car team where the owner is the driver. In reality, Robby maybe has 2 or 3 chances to win a race a year, and thats it. What are you expecting?

Honestly, can you complain about a top 15 any more?

Oh and yes, he was in the top 15, his first charge at the beginning of the race landed him near the 12th position before he played it safe and moved back. I believe he was also 11th when he pulled out to pass in the single file draft after pit stops and he got freight trained because Dale Jr. dumped him. At least have the facts straight before crying...

April 28th, 2008, 12:36
I don't see what the big deal is...the season is long enough that any "luck" evens itself out over time...sure...MAYBE RG got a little luck that there was a crash and he ended up 11th...but what about races where he gets "unlucky" and gets taken out by someone else or is given a bad set of tires?? It all evens out in the end and you generally end up right where you belong by the time Homestead rolls around...All we can realisticly hope for is gradual progress...which means ending this year up around 25th or so...anything better is gravy...

Sorry, I was having too much fun at the topless pool at Mandalay Bay.. but when I got back to the room to shower and pack up, there were about 10 laps left and they were just mentioning the 7 car, how he started in the rear, moved up thru the field to 15th before all the green flag stops.. then they mentioned his 2 hummer placing in the top ten.. then right before the wreck the scoring line showed him up to 14th... BEFORE getting any help from fallen cars..

Seems earned to me.

My worry is the 10 Chase races.. those are the ones he seems to just be riding around in.
