Guy with Gun on Google Map

How crazy is this. On the street view thing on google map there is a shot of someone pointing a gun at a kid in the middle of the day. Might be a fake gun but WOW.

Thats what I am thinking too but those things now usually come in bright orange or at least have orange tips so that people don't accidentally cap little joey while he is playing cops and robbers. It's a rather odd and random clip/pic none the less.

It's cool because you can kind of watch the progression of the kids if you click the arrows on the street. The guns are obviously water guns because there is about 20 people around. Man Google Earth is going to be in your shower next :D

That's pretty cool. That's the whole area 51/test range area so theres always crazy stuff going on, but to catch a missle in mid flight is badass!!!!

OK, I saw that and had to ask some of the experts, brother and dad(dads retired from cruise missile program) both worked as aircraft mechanics and engineers. They both said zoom out a little and look for conning trails. Here is a copy of what my brother wrote. He lives in Beaver Utah.

What looks unusual is the dark wings and tail surfaces. They are almost invisible in the picture.

The close up of the plane looks like either a Boeing 727 or a MD80.

The tail section shows either 2 or 3 engines on near the fuselage. Zooming back, I see what looks like 2 contrails.

If in fact there are 2 contrails, this would make it most likely the MD80 earlier nomenclature is DC9. About 40 miles east of my house.

200MPH is right, it's an airliner. If you search on Google earth, you can literally find hundreds of aircraft in mid-flight. Cruise missles are typically too small and fly too close to the ground for the imaging satellites to pick up.

That looks like no airliner I've ever seen. That's a missle. Where's the wings? Where's the engines? That's a Tomohawk missle being tested.

It's an airplane, look at the photo again. I agree the photo is deceptive because the upper wing surfaces are painted in a dark color. The wings can be seen against the ground. The engines are against the fuselage and probably hidden by the tailplane.

Secondly, look at the length scale at the lower left hand side of the picture, a tomahawk cruise missle is less than 20 feet long with a 9 foot wingspan. That plane is over 100' long.

Lastly, there are only a few places Tomahawk missles are tested in the U.S.
San Clemente Island, China Lake Naval station north of L.A. and White Sands missle range in southern New Mexico. No where near Utah where this plane was photographed.

It's pretty fun huh? I looked at my house and saw what general timeframe the pic was taken based on how the yard looked at the time. I also like to look out in the desert where I go shooting and out at Apex to see how many trucks and bikes are cruising around.

On average about once a year. Even then the photographs can be a couple of years old. As an example, they updated the area around my house about three months ago and the tree in my front yard was cut down almost a year and a half ago.

i was just coming on to say it must be in sections.. because my S-10 is still at the shop and i got rid of the about 8 months ago, but when i look at my house it is only like 2 months old

There's no rhyme or reason to how they update some of the areas, It took 6 years for Google earth to update the photos of the Padres Petco park in Downtown SD. Until a few months ago it still showed as being a dirt hole with steel girders stacked up in the infield.
