why don't they segregate the prisons?
that way the gang / race riots would cut down. if I'm not mistaken most of the gangs are based on race(?)

I'm talking all white all black all brown. or would that violate their rites or some crap?

I think they segregate by gang affiliation

The Civil Liberties Union would file a lawsuit.

Personally, I'd like to see San Clemente Island become the federal prison. Drop that arseholes off there to make their way on their own. Let them create mayhem among themselves and then drop the Navy Seals and Marine Recon units in to kill off the leaders from time to time.

San Clemente Island is to nice of a place for a prison and i don't think the goats would like that. In Arizona i know they house by race but i think they are trying to get away from that.

Simple, not enough bed space. Inmates will normally segregate themselves anyway.

Lets say you have 100 inmates split between four modules with 25 beds each, broken down as follows.

50 Hispanic, 20 Black, 20 White. All four modules are being used.

You have 10 new inmates transfer in, 4 Hispanic, 4 White and 2 Asian. Where would you put them?

This type of housing has been tried before and it ended up causing more problems then it solved. Keep in mind this doesn't include "Dorm style" housing where the majority of the lower level inmates are housed.

Sounds like some great training to me!

I spent some time out on San Clemente Island back in my Navy days. But did you know that a while back they wanted to take all of the old aircraft carriers, park them a few miles off of the cosat and then use them as prisons. The Supreme Court deemed it cruel and unusual punishment. Can you believe that crap? I spent over 2 1/2 years inside of the walls on one of those things, and that's actually time out on the water in the middle of nowhere, not docked anywhere. But there's something that I never understood though, didn't the inmates at these prisons commit cruel and unusual crimes?

Calif. was one of very few that did and still does for the time being. But as usual CDC was sued, they tried arguing that this is the only way they can control the violence. Court disagreed, now they have to come up with a plan to segregate (if they haven't already).

It's not going to be pretty.

I sympathize with the correctional officers that have to work in this enviroment. You guys and gals stay safe.

It is fairly easy to stay out of jail. If you end up there ,you have most likely made a series of bad decisions and jail was the end result. You have obviously needed to be taught a lesson. If it sucks in jail, too bad. You should have made a few better decisions along the path you chose...

Why not take all the gangbanger cholos and homies out to the frozen tundra of Antarctica, leave them with a bottle of water, a book of matches, and a bunch of surplus weapons. Whatever happens, happens!

My grandfather was murdered by someone in this country illegally, who also had gang affiliations. People of California, your tax dollars are hard at work housing him, along with countless other illegal criminals.

DSR, what's your take on what should be done with criminal illegals???

I say we imprison them for max sentences, and bill their home countries government. No payment, no trade with that country.

I'm sure Florida would love to bill Cuba for all the criminals in their prisons, but nutin' from nutin' is nothing.

The left-wing, 'rats have to get their votes somewhere. Subjugation through entitlements and welfare has been their best tool by far.

Sorry to hear what happened to your grandfather,

From the approximately 170,000 prisoners currently in Cal. Prisons, the most accurate numbers I can find show around 14,000 criminal illegal immigrants. Once they serve their sentences, they are handed over to the INS and deported. Until our country decides to secure our borders, then nothing is going to keep these same people from sneaking back across.

A good example;

The case of Rafael Resendez-Ramirez, an illegal Mexican drifter, wanted in an FBI manhunt in the brutal murders of at least eight people near railroad tracks in Texas, Kentucky, and Illinois, surrendered himself to Texas Rangers at a border crossing near El Paso in July 1999. What especially aroused public ire was not just the magnitude of Ramirez’s crimes, but that he previously had been in federal custody. A check with the Immigration and Naturalization Service’s Border Patrol computer identification files showed he was a repeat offender who reentered the U.S. after three deportations, and who voluntarily returned to Mexico at least nine times following apprehensions. In fact, four of the murders took place in the weeks following his release by the U.S. Border Patrol back to Mexico. Ramirez eventually pled guilty in Texas state court on multiple murder charges, and at his own request, received the death penalty. He currently is awaiting execution.

As far as billing their home countries, Good luck with that, it will never happen. There are illegal detainees from around the world. The costs to house these prisoners are miniscule compared to money changing hands in the global trade market. We could send them a bill but they would just laugh in our faces. Since the inception of Homeland security, ICE and INS agents have made huge leaps in identifying and deporting criminal illegals, over 140,00 in 2006.

Once again, something has to be done to prevent them from coming back across. I have bigger issues with Schwarzenegger's plan for the early release of 70,000 state prisoners back into our communities.

it's not that simple dude. there's segregation between races too. mexicans have native mexicans, chicanos, and some others. Not to mention not every hispanic out there is mexican. they could be puerto rican, cuban, or central/south american (MS-13). Whatever. i'm sure it's the same within other races. you're always going to have some kind of struggle for power in any world.

I hate to say it but alot of you are way off.First off we have dorms that are set up for 12 inmates,we now house 36 in a dorm. The over crowding is out of control and if you really new how it is in prison you would probally be very angry. While you guys pay for school education, trade schools, medical etc..these guys are getting it for free. They get all the latest movies that play through the institution,as we walk up in 100+ weather with a stab proof vest on,jumpsuit, duty belt, and all the gear, these guys are laying out on the grass sun bathing. They have softball tournaments, volleyball, tennis, frisbee, horse shoes,etc..not to mention a live band that comes in and plays on some holidays. Why stay under a bridge when you can come in to prison and get a paying job, warm bed,tv,free medical, and a free education?I hear them tell these people on the streets all these B.S war stories and a majority of them is all bogus or they werent around when it did happend.Besides not having a women these guys have it made, and the hole time your tax paying dollars are paying there 50-60,000 dollar a year price tag.All of us have some family in the pen or on drugs and in jail etc..but I also beleive that we all make a decision and all of us could come up with some bull**** story in our past and use that for a reason to give up and get into crime. There are also some good inmates in there that just got caught up.They live a very good life in there and even though it's prison and there are some very hard prisons most of these guys are young punks that get out and think they are hard when in reality they haven't fought once in prison.I see some x-inmates out alot and always greet them with an open hand and I get alot of respest from them, but I also ask them when are they going to wake up?Or how can they look at there kids and say"daddy screwed up and I have to go away for 3-5 years"?Like I said I even have a very good freind that did alot of time in the system and he is still my buddy, and I was also with my wife today at the store and a guy walked up and shook my hand and said hello and that he just got out two days ago.I don't mind because everyone messes up and I even intraduced him to my wife and kids etc..It is CDC's fault that they make it to easy for these guys,if they made it a hell hole like the protray then we wouldn't be so over crowed.I have worked in the system since I was 21 years old and14 years later i'm still here, but I do think that prison is a joke, just a place for all the homies to hang out.And your question on the gangs, there are gangs inside gangs from bloods,crips,damu,415.sureno,norteno,bulldogs,skin head,ab,eme,etc..etc...etc..thats just to name a few.The war between gangs will never end,sad but until the penalty for the crimes these guys do get alot tuffer then it will only get worse. These guys don't mind coming to prison and when it comes to that point then somethings wrong?Sorry for the novel,lol....

We are paying to feed, house and provide basic medical care for 170,000 adults who refuse to play by the rules. We allow them to knock up their females and then pay to support those litters, too. It's time to think outside the box. Here's something simple, inexpensive, protects the public and eliminates the need for guards. Anyone sentenced to more than a decade should be flash frozen. Upon your release date you will be fedex'd home with defrost instructions. I believe the city of Commerce has lots of warehouses for lease. For simplicity they arrange the inventory alphabetically. In this case it would be:

Bldg B) holds Bananas, Beans, & Broccoli

Bldg C) holds Cauliflower, Convicts, & Corn.

Works for me :)

I'm not saying all are way off but unless you have first hand experience then alot are wrong.I have worked in the systen for 14 years now, they get the best medical. If these guys need serious medical then they go to a specialist, and it doesn't cost anything.Heres an example, another c/o and myself went on a transport taking an inmate uptown to the hospital. They couldn't find out what was wrong with him and after several test and hours later we hopped on a helicopter and flew to a different city and bigger hospital.(the helicopter ride was cool ,lol)After about 10 hours into the transport some medical staff came out and asked us if we had been wearing mask?We looked at each other and said "no" why?The medical staff began to tell us that the inmate had spiral airborne menengitas and that we should have been wearing mask all along.Noone told us **** about mask until then,so after about 21 hours with this inmate which we eneded up admiting for about two weeks,we heade back to the institution. We ended our night by driving to the E.R and had to get some kind of shot in our ass to make sure that we didn't get infected. The prison ended up giving every single inmate that was at the prison the medication(which is about 4000 inmates) and even gave it to the inmates that transfered to the camps in case they were aroud this infected inmate.BUT THEY ONLY GAVE THE MEDICINE TO ABOUT 50 STAFF(and we have about 800 staff c/o's,medical,records,etc..)I guess we aren't as important and it doesn't matter if we contact the menengitias?Let alone what it cost to send the inmate by ambulance, then by helicopter, then run all the test, and then get admitted for two weeks,etc...At least his was legit because a majority of the guys that go out are by ambulance at something like 2500.00 each trip? All us tax payers pay for it,They say that we get all this O.T and make all this money but they don't tell you that there are alot that don't want O.T but get held over for an extra 8 hour shift 3-4 times a week? There are times when you guys work a 40 hour week and we get stuck doing a 72 hour week.It sucks when you are on your way out to go home and you get to the gate and they say sorry you need to go over to this yard and work another 8 hours.I'm just saying that there is alot more that goes on then you think?

Have you hear about all those people that have been freed on forensic evidence after being wrongfully imprisoned in texas? They're now looking to sue and prosecute the prosecutor's responsible for putting them away. Pretty crazy. Anyways I'm getting off topic, lol.

There are a bunch of thugs doing mulitple life sentences for multiple crimes in prison. So they are basically guilty of at least one or more of the crimes they have been charged with right? So if you are doing like 300 years and multiple life sentences why dont we just cut the herd? I mean just kill the guys who will never get out or be of any good to anyone? Hell I need a job and I dont mind shooting stuff, they are not people at some point they are worse than wild animals we should just get rid of the worst ones that would open up more room for the up and coming thugs and maybe save us some money. Sorry to all my buddies who are in or on their way to prison, I am not talking about you guys ofcourse.
