I am wondering that too. What a great truck/suv. I loved that build thread. Hopefully it goes at full offer because to me that truck is famous.:)

Did he build it knowing he was going to sell it? If not, when did it change?

Its for sale, but not sold just yet so he may not be "selling" his Blazer :)
I can actually see where he is coming from trying to sell it.

Word on the street is that with the economy slowing down, so is the porn business. With that John hasn't been able to star in as many movies, thus hurting his income some.

What a shame, that's a nice ride to be selling just after completion.

Not when it cost more to build then your advertising it for lol

This is my personal take on it and this is only because I am doing something similar.
You are really excited about building something like this so you decide to pull the trigger and do it. It takes some time to do it right but you are still jazzed by the build and all the stuff that goes into it. Finally the truck is done and you are ready to take it out, but you think to yourself that you are just not into it as much as you were (plus you have gone without having something for the year to five you have been building it) when you first started and if you start using it now it will just decrease the value and heck, $60, $70, $80k would look good in my bank account so why not try and sell it.

Speaking of advertising, he couldn't afford the $50 to put it in the featured ads? Doesn't he get some kind of moderator discount?:D

Well, if those guppies were from certain people....they'd probably be able to buy a FEW trucks on here...

Was thinking the same thing. I wonder what the build cost was. Using Fox Shocks, Vision X lighting, 'test' Nitto tires, Patelli engine/tranny, Blitzkrieg fab work; plus all the other connections he has made through this site, I'm pretty sure he's not taking a bath on the deal.

Kirk like I have said before to others try and build it yourself. See if the $75 an hour at SPF adds up after 2 months of work, Send your vehicle to E&J for a front to back wiring job. Sure I got some deals along the way but we are talking maybe 20% off retail deals, trade banner for discounts. Call up PCI, call up Racer X, Call up UPR, Call up SPF, Call up E&J, Call up Blitzkrieg, Call up Trailer Products, the Chevy Dealer for Headlights, Summit for Gauges, Kartek for all the fittings/hose, Patelli for motor and tranny, Tubeworks full floater, Marty at MME custom dash and ask them how much of what I bought was FREE...Test Nittos free but they cant go with it, they go back, I will put Projects on it that I paid for. Thanks for your input though.
It was not built to sell. I already have a home. 3 years ago I started my own business, well 3 years later it still is not making any money in fact most of my accounts have closed their doors and the shops still open are hurting big time. So bills still need to be paid on the building, insurance, electric, phone/internet until the lease is up at the end of the year. If I can get a real job again, I will keep it. But I wont ruin my credit being stubborn and trying to hold on to a luxury.
This type of vehicle is not for the average person, every trip out is costly and thats not breaking anything just with normal maintenance. I dont expect people that have never owned something of this caliber to understand. Those that have owned a vehicle of this build do know.

John is right. It costs a bunch of money to operate a prerun truck. They eat brakes, rod ends, tires (rear for sure), paint, fuel and on and on. Just a simple transmission service will run $600 - $1000. Good luck with you business pursuits John, ultimately you are doing the right thing based on your comments.

Unfortunate circumstances. Atleast you are doing the responsible thing by reorganizing your finances, unlike alot of others in the country who just let their house foreclose and try to run from creditors and repo's with their toys!

John, I have known you for years but I have no idea what business you are in. I have a cushy Govt job so maybe I am not the one to give advice but how about promoting your business more here on RDC?
This family of racers, chasers, fans, bros, babes, dreamers and internet racers really do try to keep their business in the off road community. Maybe we can help.
