I'm looking into making some movies or videos of our race team and I was wondering what software is recondmened from those of you who already do this stuff. I know final cut pro, Imovie and windows movie maker, but i was wondering what do you use? I have experiance in this field, though seeing how I only have access to a PC and windows movie maker, my videos are limited to how they appear. HELP!!

I use Avid Liquid Pro and FXHome for special effects - Still learning the FXHome though. Do you have Final Cut Pro or just know how to use it? You could get Pinnacle if you don't want to invest alot of money. Less than $100 - I know Final Cut Pro isn't cheap and neither is Avid

or You could hire me to do it for you :)

i use Adobe Premiere for my PC. i also throw some stuff into Adobe After Effects sometimes, but that one will probably take another 14 years to learn haha. I like using the Adobe programs just because I got them all in the "video bundle" which had Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere, In Design, Audition, and Bridge. If you need to buy it, I STRONGLY suggest asking a college student. We get them for soooo much cheaper than other places.

What does a bundle like that run? Sounds like everything and the kitchen sink

Thanks guys, I have a BA in Communications/Mass Madia and I took classes on Final Cut, but my college only used MACS for everything movie wise, and I own a PC and always used the movie maker (which is sooo cheese ball compaired to others). I'm thinking on buying a MAC and the movie bundle but i'm open for suggestions!!! Kartman- has the right idea, so i take it you use a MAC?

Are the Adobe programs easy to learn, One class i wished they offered in college..lol

yea, the package was pretty expensive. it cost me about 700-800 (don't remember exactly). but retail i believe it costs $1699. But I'm a graphic design student who dabbles in film, so it's been well worth it so far.

As far as being easy to learn: I moved from Pinnacle to Adobe Premiere, and it LOOKS overwhelming, but to do the basics, it's pretty quick and easy. Photoshop, Illustrator, etc, are easy to learn the basics also because there are SO many tutorials online, but you could also spend years nailing down all their functions if you wanted. If you already have some video editing practice, especially with final cut, you should have no problems with Premiere. good luck.

if you want to make movies that are on par with the top ones in the industry then final cut is the only way to go (unless you can afford avid media composer).

For PC use Vegas Video. I think they are up to 8 now. It is a great program and very easy to learn.

I started with Final Cut Pro on a 15" Titanium G4 powerbook in 2001 for DP1. I have been using Macs and upgrading FCP ever since.

Once you go mac you never go back.:D They take a little getting used to but are the most user friendly machines made.
