just interested in what you guys have spare's of onboard your race truck.
we will have spare driveshaft, 2 spare tires, spare axle, couple extra lugnuts and a extra set of fuses. i cant think of anything else. what do you guys carry?
how many people run two batteries? why?

also equipment. we plan to have an alum jack, cordless impact, and a wrench with a variety of sockets. thats all i can think of...

belts, hoses, spark plugs, some fluids, misc hardware that fits your application.maybe a hub nut if you are running a floater, zip ties, silicone, maybe some seals like hub/axle, spare lugs (incase someone cross threads some), duct tape, some misc electrical parts(wire, connectors, bulbs..) safety wire. you need what ever tools it takes to work on the truck to prep it. you might be surprised that something simple like a little film container of grease can come in handy at times. don't forget a few shop rags too.
not sure where you plan to race, but some of the long races (la paz) we used to carry a spare alternator just in case.
if you are chasing points or just having a good time it makes a difference. if it breaks or you have a problem, you either fix it doing what ever it takes to make the finish line or you load it up and go home.

i used to carry a couple sets of nitrile work gloves. incase you have to tear into a really greasy job it's nice not to be covered in slick stuff for the rest of the day.

i'm not sure what you will have as chase trucks/support and what they will have on board with them. you might be the main source for anything you need.

hth it's a good start for you.

wow lots of stuff i didnt even think about! like belts and hoses and spark plugs...

umm chase trucks... dont have any :D
my dad and i will be entering a 71 f250 into 300 mile VORRA races for fun. my brother might come and drive my 69 f100 with some spares to check points. but that would be the most support we would have. and thats if he would even come. so we need to carry quite a bit onboard! plan on stashing spares. having spares in our pit, and gas at the pit and a bunch of tools their. two man squad here!

thanks

You NEED to have some type of pit setup. Find other foks from your area that are going to the same race. Then You can share pits/crew etc.. If you can't bring folks, bring somethig to the table.. sponsor the food for the crew, or pay for chase gas, etc..something !

why do i need a pit setup
were not going to be trying to get first howeveer it would be nice, just having a good time trying to finish the race. we can refuel at our pit by ourselfs. we can change out spares by ourselves. we will have to stash some spares.

No main pit?

You're setting yourselves up for a long day. Doesn't matter if you're going for an overall/class win or just a finish.

Even for fun, that is just not playing it safe. "Just for fun" is another way of saying I got money to burn because that is what happens when you show up to race and are not properly prepared.

"Your Friend" as in just one.... will not be able to handle all the stress of supporting your race effort on his own. And would most likely not want to be your friend by the end of the day. No matter how small the race is, you need minimum of 5 guys and two support vehicles. Hopefully they are mechanically inclined and the equipment that took you there is up to the task of handling the desert.

At this point I would recommend a professional pit service. Oh and try hooking up with a real crew that has experience and knowledge of what it takes. At least show up and volunteer to help and ill bet several receptive offers would be thrown out as most everyone could use another hand.
