I have been running a junkyard front 44 that a buddy and I dug out of a little junkyard by Salton Sea for almost two years. Dan Turner and I trussed it, put new gears and carriers more than a few times, thrashed it, fixed it and thrashed it again. Then, at the Freedom 250, we dealt the axle it's final blow. It was time for a change........
Brian Ellinger of Diamond Axle said to me, "We don't build axles the fastest, nor the cheapest, but when you run my axle you won't have any more issues, period." There are a lot of choices out there, but for us, there was only one, A Diamond Axle front 9" with Dana 44 outers. This housing is a work of art!
If you have the best housing available, you need to fill it with the best parts available. Ryan and Eric Filar of Fat City Racing and Alloy USA/Precision Gear came through with Precision Gear 6.20:1 gears, a Trac Lock differential and Custom built chromoly Alloy USA axles. Top these off with CTM Racing U-joints and we will have a Jeepspeed axle second to none!
Here are some build pics of the team putting the thing together..... More to follow.
