My guess is your going to kill even 35 spline axles. Unless you baby it.. In a 7s Ranger 4x4 with a 250Hp 2.3l 4 banger we could break solid 40 spline axles. Never had problems once we went gun drilled.

Good 300M 35 spline axles minimum. It's not that much more money to go 40 spline.

I'm running a tube works rear end with 35 spline axles and 37" BFG's. We have a 383 stroker and 522 HP and 550 ft/lbs torque. We haven't had any issues yet....knock on wood.

I am assuming you already have a 31 spline spool?
Alright, so eventually you will have problems. But, this setup has been around forever. This is a stock car favorite / standard set-up, and are used in everything from saturday night specials to cup. While the torque loads are very different in off road, you could put together a strong setup until you save your money for 40 spline.
Speedway Engineering makes 31 - 24 300m gun drilled axles which are supper strong, on the shelf, and not bad in price. Keep your old ones on the truck as spares! Dont buy the cheap solid ones you see advertised for $69 bucks, those dont last.
If you are going to change carriers, go to 40 spline, dont waste your time with 35's.
Huge difference in price between 40 spline and 31 set-ups.
