Well I've screwed up everything else I fab so why not give this a try! I have a single seat buggy go cart that I'm building for the nephews and am at the point where I want to skin it. What thickness aluminum sheeting does everyone use when fabbing the panels and what type of aluminum? I've done a few noses and roofs and such for our race cars but have always had stock lying around to work with and now have to order a full sheet. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Well figuring that your welds are probably crappy i'd use 1/4 inch so it will hold the car together LOL Totally messing buddy couldn't resist:D:D

Try some 5052 x .050 or .063. 3003 works also.

Most bodies are made of 3003-h14 aluminum. It's very easily formed and welds easily. 5052 is a bit tougher to form. As for thickness, usually .050 for side panels, firewalls / .060 for the hood and dash. For the roof we use .080 thick.

Adam/Tim gracias, I'm going with .040 on the side and .050 on the hood/roof and appreciate the input! Eric is that a pic from your weekend at BrokeBack Mtn? Kidding bro, PP next weekend?

No Problem. I like 5052 for side panels. It does not get dinged up as quickly as the 3003. The 3003 works great for items like a dash. You can basically form it with your hands. Post some pictures when you get some progress......
