The Santa Cruz Bullit is a great all around bike for the price. The suspension is really good and the bikes hold up well.

I used to dowhill for years but it has honestly need a little while. While I always rode Mountain Cycle if I were to suggest a great quality DH bike I would vote for Foes.
There are several really good manufacterers out there and you will basically get what you pay for. I would say a good used bike should cost $2-4K.

How much are you looking to spend? I have a two year old Giant Faith 2 that has very little time on it, practically brand new, that is collecting dust in the garage. It's a great bike, just never made the time for it.
Lemme know if you're interested, looks exactly like the picture below.

Specialized are great bike...... Go check it out and ride it around.
You need to go to a good bike shop that sells DH bikes and get sized up.
MTBR has a classified section..... http://classifieds.mtbr.com/showcat.php/cat/3

That Faith is a great bike.
I have a mechanic here that is selling his 2007 Kona Stab Supreme.

Funny story about it. I was at the bike show a couple of years ago looking at it. There was a middle aged guy next to me.
Guy: What do you think of this bike?
Me: This bike is sooo sick! I just had one of my racers ditch their Turner DHR for this bike. With the braking system you can set it up for neutral braking or you can make it squat for a lower center of gravity and rail the corners. We were at Keystone resort a month ago and our friends on their VPP's couldn't keep up on the corners.
Guy: Wow, sounds like quite a bike.
Me: Yeah, it's way quicker than that Turner he had before.
Guy: Hmm
Me: So where do you work a...(I look at his name tag) Dave...TURNER! Oh, I'm sorry...
Dave Turner: Don't be, this is how we learn about our bikes.

I have a feeling I'm going to miss it when I sell it, but I just can't justify holding onto it. No time to ride it anymore, too many hobbies and not enough hours in a day.

I would search the forums for a used Turner DHR, an Intense M3, Santa Cruz VP 10, all great bikes and the deals will be around since winter is close and hills will have snow on them.

Gravity..... "Down Hill Bikes"
These bikes are not made to be peddled up hills that is what chair lifts are for.

I would not buy a used Foes. They are probably the best bike out there but they are fragile. I had a brand new Zig Zag a while back that broke a few times under normal condiotions and little to no abuse. If you want to buy a used DH bike, be careful. Look for a bike with tubes (not formed tubes) and a basic suspension design. That would be the most durable/reliable option. Kona's are bulletproof but a little heavy.

I have a buddy that has been riding a Giant Glory DH for a while now, amazing bike and he has no trouble with it, I ride a Giant Reign X1 and it is a great downhill/Xcountry bike, a little lite tho for extreme downhilling where the Glory DH screams.
