Ok I have bought many GPS's for my vehicles over the years along with a race radio. Now I have a bike and want to get some sort of GPS for my bike, I have a gift cert for PCI so I would like to spend my $ there. Can anyone recommend a GPS in the $200 or so range? I need it to be able to attach to my bars. Would be even better if I could then transfer over the map info to my other Lowrance in my truck.

I run a Lowrance I finder on my prerun bike and then take all my notes from it and put them in the race car. Works great. I looked at a ton of different mounts like the "ram" mount and didn't like any of them. I ended up making my own that sits right on top of the bar clamp (Protaper so no crossbar). It's out of harms way and still easy to read. My I finder is a older black and white unit but was under 200 bucks.

Hmmnnn also saw that PCI has the SpotTracker, sems like a great idea for me and my loved ones when I go to Mexico. Like in case I miff it out in the middle of nowhere on the bike, help is within distance.

I have the I finder and the ram mount and it works great. We had it on the quad for the whole race at last years thousand and the baja 500 with no probloems.

I did a lot of research regarding a GPS for my KTM. There are pros and cons, but I ended up getting a Garmin 60CSX...and...drum roll please...I love it. You can get topo maps, manage stuff from your PC, etc. Also LBMAPS has maps of Baja. There is a very cool dude on RDC that goes by Johnny Airtime and he emailed me some great tracks and waypoint in Baja. They worked flawlessly. I also fretted about which mount to get and almost spent too much money on a Touratech one, when a buddy turned me onto the IMS universal GPS mount. The cradle is rubber mounted and your GPS stays put with simple velcro. Again I love it. Here is a pic of the mount. I think it cost something like $75. I think the website is www.imsproducts.com
As for the Spot tracker, I am very interested in this also, but have never used one. I found a place in OC that rents them for a pretty low price...here you go. http://www.adventuretrak.com/ I am planning on renting one before I buy one.

BajaXP where in Newport are u? Maybe I can come by and check out your setup. Yeah I have a Lowrance in my truck and have the Mexico maps on there. I paid the $100 or so from PCI and, well cant wait to be able to finally use it in a month. Would be nice to have a GPS for Mexico on my bike but not necessary, Would like to go the day before the race and check out some spots on the course and then load that info to my truck GPS.

If you have a team, you guys may want to use all the same type, IE Garmin or Lowrance. Just so you have all the same software etc..Something to think about.
