Any UAE people in here, or anyone going to this?

It starts in a few days. Looks pretty badass. It looks like the race is almost entirely on sand. 5 stages, starts in Abu Dhabi and ends in Dubai.

Javier Sacio (CORR Pro-Lite driver and rally driver originally from S. America) had stated that he might be racing in it...but I don't know if he ended up going through with all that is involved...

UAE based person here - in fact that is our video that you linked to! It's all kicking off next week and preparations are hectic at the moment. 42 cars, 3 trucks and 68 bikes & quads. 90% run on sand with the remaining 10% on hard packed roads (called gatch tracks over here).
We will have a daily update on RDC when it kicks off - you can also find the updates on www.teamsaluki.com.
No works teams this year - the only real contender is Nasser Saleh Al Attiyah is his X3. If he wins here next week he will have won the Cross Country Championship.
The main website is www.uaedesertchallenge.com and they may have live tracking again.

We've been receiving daily updates from Cyril. Sounds like a fun one. Today he was going to try and make up 4 minutes on Marc Coma. It was 122 degrees yesterday and 100% humidity. Now that sounds scary to me! This was one of Chris' favorite races a couple years back. Good Luck boys!

Cyril has taken over the lead today. Marc Coma had some mechanical issues and Ruben Faria had a bad crash today and pulled out at the refueling CP. One day left...
