Being it is posted I would say it is for real. Will anyone pay that for that car........... I seriously doubt it. I would think he would be lucky to get half of what he is asking for it.

I'm just sayin

Guys, Try and build one "new" from scratch. Now make it work good, not DNF.. and win! Ask how much money they have won over the past year in a half and what spare package goes with it. Now ask yourself how much would "you" pay to run up front and win races... consistantly. I bet you'll find it isnt that poorly priced. The days of 5, 6, and even 7 thousand dollar cars are gone, hell, motors cost that. Sure you could go buy a 1600 car for that, but it wont be a year and a half old, up to date, and a winner . If you got the bucks buy the best! Right Dave...:D

Jeff, dont let that gardner pursuade you to the dark side. Race your own car and do your own thing. 20k ????uuuhhmmm... NO! Call Lothringer, Messick, Seagrove and see what a turn-key car cost. Trust me when I say its expensive. Beaner Boy is "Goin" down!!!! Kevin, can he race the "Lil Blue Pill" in November with that Nut Farmer?

I got a car that goes pretty good for sale with a complete and extensive spares package for half that amount.

It opened my eyes as well, but Frank is right,It cost alot to build a car from scratch and then poduim almost every race with few dnf's. The dnf part is worth some good coin alone

When I bought the super car I forgot about having to drive it as fast as it was used to.. Mr T had a handle on that.. Im still workin it. No regret buying a winner at all.

The DNF factor is huge. That is something I looked at closely before I bought ours and I am glad I did.

my new car is very simular to this car and I have to say that if I had to build my car from scratch it would have costed me more than 25K, but because I had the engine wheels/tires Etc.. and got a great deal on my trans I was able to spend significantly less, I think the car is definetly worth it, maybe not for me but for someone who wants to get into racing and start out in a competitive race car.

Not to put this thread back on track or anything but...............

Ok I can see building a new car could be 25K if you never pick up a wrench. I would guess around half of that cost to be labor. We are talking a new car though.

Now to buy a used car that cast 25k new and have a season or two on it. I just cant presonally see the justification here.

When I built my single seat in 05 I had about 13k-14k in it and thats with me already having the motor, trans, shocks, front end parts, drums, brakes and doing the wiring/plumbing myself. I got a smokin deal on the fuel cell and ran a manual clutch and did almost all the tabbing. I paid roughly 7k for a mild steel chassis, body, shifter set up,sell mounted and steering set up. I have called around and most guys want 30k-40k for a top of the line turnkey 9 car and that was about 3 years ago.

I'm with you...did the Shank and Maxwell cars sell??? You could have bought both of those for the price of this one! And the Shank car had a couple of championships on it.

If you are a seasoned racer and are looking to buy into 9, or move down a class....maybe it would be worth it. But behind any good car is an excellent prep person...no matter how good your car is, that's the limiting factor.

I hope it goes for top dollar...I'm going to be able to take mine to the Barrett/Jackson auction in a couple of years if that's the case!.....as you ACME guys say...I'm just sayin'.....

EL Diablo
October 24th, 2008, 17:52
I still just can't fathum that as a reasonable price. I wouldn't spend that kind of coin because a guy does a good prep and can finish podiums consistently. You can not buy a win. You could put Walters, Torres, Hughes, Or you Frank in a outdated car (i.e. single port, 2.0's) and your still going to finish up front. You have to know how to drive a nine car to be fast and get it to the finish. You all know you can't just put the pedal to the floor. If that single seat has $25 K in it, I'm the POPE!

While at tech/contingency for the Snore 250 a guy had a very old green 9 car for sale for $18,000 which I thought was a misprint, Rash's car is much nicer and proven.

I know a top 9 car racer that will be selling two cars shortly. If we can get near these listed prices for top finishing cars, GREAT!:)

I barely have $25,000 in my 1600 and I think it is a top running 1600 ( when I don't try to run boulders over)!! If they can get 25,000 for the 9 I'll be selling my 1600 for $50,000, any takers??

Seagroves puts out an incredible car but, I'm surprised with the price. I can see how it adds up though.

Shoot, if someone offered me $25K for my NEW 1600 car I'd probably take it. Oh, it's finished by the way! :)

So that makes the Wedgie still worth @ $7K IMO... $25K for a 9 car; puff puff pass, I agree with Pope JP-6.

PS if you don't go on the dez race gen discussion board and sign and send your letter and get involved in the Johnson Valley deal it won't be worth $5K... I'm just sayin

hey guys i was just cruisin thru and read this thead , its a nice car but 25 k , i dont think so , i know i come on hear every once in a while and stir the pot but , the offroad builders are outta control . maybe we should use the small time builders and or do more our selfs and save the $$$$$$$$ i mean thers no geometry tricks with a nine . u cant do to much with the beam ,yur only gonna get 6.5 travel ther . the rear if u do yur home work and dont overthink it u can get an easy 10 maybe 12 . the chassis , i built some in the old days , everytube .120 and every tab 1/4 and still had to add 50lbs. guess im just saying gotta do your home work , get many different oppinions from the "big " guy to the broke dik and see what ya come up with . anyways good luck to all .

So again what makes a single class 9 car worth 25-28000????????????????????????????????????????????? ?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ????????? When you can get 2 for 9500???????
