i just finished my bolt in polyurethane motor and transmission mounts for my 05 tacoma 4x4 and was concerned with the exhaust system mainly manifold fatigue.

my concern is stock the motor and trans moved a lot but after the solid mounts almost 0.now the exhaust is moving and the motor is pretty much staying put and possibly flexing the hell out of the exhaust manifolds when of course i want to avoid this

what does everybody do with the exhaust when building a race / play truck to keep the exhaust from moving around so much without solid mounting them(metal to metal)?

I used stainless flexible couplings between the headers and exhaust. Hardmounted the exhaust and have no problems. I have seen far too many trucks w/ exhausts breaking off due to ****ty rubber mounts. Couldnt be happier with our set up. This is great because it takes all the weight off the headers / manifolds.

thanks, being that my exhaust is still being ran underneath the truck has anybody done a poly mounting for the rest of the exhaust. im just afraid about ripping a hole in the exhaust at a mount , if it takes an impact from something. im thinking a little flex is still needed due to heat expansion , chassis flex, etc. so as to not fatigue the exhaust , do to the fact that exhausts are made out of thinner materals.
