Ok so at the 2007 Off-Road expo in Pomona I came across this bad arse grey F150 prerunner,I became slightly obsessed...........:o I found out that the truck was built by Tom Mckenzie who used to work for Larry Plank along with Nester( I am very bad with the spelling of names)before Larry's untimely passing. Tom opened his own shop called S.I. Motorsports Inc. Well I found this same truck at Off-Roadweb.com as a feature. In the article I read that Tom achieved 34 inches of rear wheel travel by kicking the frame.
Can someone explain tome how this is done. I have a F150 that I want to build and I really like the idea of keeping the frame because it may sound strange, call it being OCD but it drives me crazy thinking of how to run the tube inside the frame to a certain point to keep it strong. Then thinking of how to make the tube look good.
At the 2006 Expo I saw this company that made a complete rolling back half for a ranger where you just cut the frame a certain way and roll it up and weld it to your frame. I thought that way very cool but I can't seem to remember who built it, nor can I locate pictures of it.

Before you kick a frame, strap on some steel toe boots. ha If I was going to do this mod, I would make two pie cuts on each side of the frame, forward topside and rearward bottom side, in the areas where the existing bends are. Weld and plate the joints, box in the frame, then kick it the rest of the day.

you can also c notch the frame and this usually provides plenty of uptravel. 34" of travel is a little excessive for most. I know which truck your talking about - its beautiful.
