How do I tell the diffrence between the Ford C4 C5 and C6 transmissions? I have one that I took out of my 1994 F-150 2wd 351w automatic and am wondering what trans it is. any help is appreciated.

The C-4 and C-5 have removable bellhousings, the C-6 doesn't. Based on the vehicle you pulled it from, I'd say it's a C-6.

It could be a E40D or a 4L100 the E40d is a turd.

Well I found out it is a E40D pile of junk, Now I have to find one C4 or C6 for short course truck that will be pushing stock horsepower?

Find a C6 they are pretty tough if built correctly. plus their are alot of strong parts available

If you go with a c-6, you will need a fixed yoke. The fixed yoke (10 spline) are hard to find. It uses a short tailhousing...so start looking now. I have two 1350 size fixed yokes, If you are interested.
