Here you go.. possibles for the big 9 car race of 09. We can narrow it down from these choices.

You gotta vote for the 500, nothing like a long race that takes you into the night testing everything about the drives, pits, and the car. Too bad I will miss it again this year though.

Has anyone talked to the promoters?.......Corey? This should happen,we can use the amount of entries to boost contengency and maybe reduce entry fees and increase payback. We already know some promoters listed in the poll don't really care about the big draw of 9 cars,we should talk to the promoters that would be willing to commit to some extra incentives........I'm going to wait to see where the code/score/mdr guys want it to be located.

I don't mind where it is at as long as theres a good turn out, Dave you don't want to take on the task of contacting some promoters?

Maybe I'll start off the donations with some of my goodies. I'll try and help with this were I can and see about sponsors and such. Im thinking I'll do maybe spindles or if the bidness is there a beam combo deal. Oh and yes its only for the cars with my stuff on during the race... lol

Im sure everyone already knows but it's going to take a ton of donations/sponsors to get the cars out from under the tarps like when the flapjack dude Mrs. Bantillian organized the last big'in. And Im sure the with a good payday you even get the cars that have been turned into swingsets like Nate Dog has in the playground. Nate did you ever get that ball joint changed out on the rocking horse ride??? I would hate to see Husky Chris get in bind again.

Its a shame, it looks like most people want to race in their own backyards. I'll be the first to tell you if its in Barstool or Lucerne I feel I have an advantage over the guys that dont race here. I pretty much know these tracks like the back of my hand, and I feel its safe to say most MORE racers do also. I voted on SNOREs 400 miler. A course that is different, great hotels, and a great organization (very professional). Wherever it is I'll be there, but geeze dont you guys want a more even playing field and something different? As far as not interfering with another promoters schedule or racers schedule, its gonna happen to someone. You'll have to decide if you want to race a few cars or alot of cars.

cocks suspension worx is the best! thanks for already stepping up! has anybody checked with any of the promoters to see what they might be able to offer as a bonus for a big race? as for the rocking horse, husky had to borrow the giant spring that it sat on for a project he is working on.....whatever that means

Not a scientific method here but SNORE had 12 cars in 2008 YTD races and MORE had 29 YTD listed for points.
Thats 41 cars racing betwen the two series in 2008 so far currently racing.
A promotor payback would be estimated $12k for the class with 40 cars not counting outside contributors or addiional entry fee.
Estimate 1st $6000, 2nd $3600, 3rd $1500, 4th $500.
A huge class turnout, great racing and Big $$..Thats gonna be fun.

We need to get the word out and get all these cars to the Big Race in 09. No matter when or where.

With that said by default you get more (no pun) numbers at a MORE race. So to me it makes more (once again no pun) sense to do it at the MORE 500 as it already has a big showing and has 1/3rd of the votes.

Give it some time dave.It took Corey and Corey months last time to pull off the last big 9 race.right now you only have 36 votes thats not close to how many cars are out there and running. We have not seen any of the Baja guys post up yet, they do have a good turn out in code and once in a while at plaster city too.It was the promoter leading right now that held it last time.....and you can ask C and C how that went.it is a no brainer that promoter is leading.....you guys are on here all the time.Someone needs to contact all of the 9 racers via email, phone or in person and ask the question of where..Corey B had a good list last time maybe someone could contact him and get it.We can with numbers increase payback and possible decrease entries which would be a big + to guys swayin on the fence....

I guess the thing that sucks most about an online pole is you get people that don't even race the class voting on issues or 1 car teams voting more than once further swaying the vote!!! but being this is the best poll we have had so far why do people think the longest race on the list is best for class 9's big race??

When you get right down to it MONEY is what is going to draw racers!!! When Cory B. put on the big 9 race in 2006 there was around a $13,000 purse(with 40 cars) and quite a few vendors gave alot of product!! In order to get vendors to feel it is worth it for them to give product or money it would be very benificial for the promoter to be able to show they are also supporting the event with a bonus, and there will most likely be a large number of cars!!

I know SNORE's last race of the year will be the class 9 feature race for 2009!! What that means is 1st place with 10 cars would get $2,000 with 20 cars would get $3,000, with 30 cars would get $4,000 and with 40 cars would get $5000(which was more than 1st place got with 46 at the last big 9 race)!!! I will look into the rest of the payback to the rest of the field.
I also know SNORE would be willing to change the class 9 feature race to a diffrent race if we were to have a Big Nine race there!!!!

What is MORE willing to put up for class 9 to get the big turn out there???, has there been a 9 bonus race this year if so I missed it??

What is DRIVE willing to put up for money??? Being a new series it would be an awesome way to draw entrys??

AMEN preacher man Corey.......Another thing people should be thinking about when voting is the entry fee.....the mint is great but the entry will be high......at least it was last year, ths could turn away people........
Money/payback will equal big entries someone needs to look into payback for 40 plus entries at each promoter it is my thought that snore at the top, but whose to say that someone else(like drive)couldn't top them

A few other things to consider for a big 9 race: Hotel Rooms for out of towners, acurate timing programing(transponders are helping out alot), check point workers that actually write down car#s and times, a good post tech and races that are atleast 2 weeks away from another series's race date. Just a few thoughts.....

We vote for two options:

1) Make a two Races tournament, one in USA and one in BAJA, the one in Mexico could will finish on San Felipe, Mexicali-San Felipe from CODE or Ensenada-San Felipe from RECORD....both races on December

2) ONE big race on USA, near the boarder, a place like Plaster City could be neutral for everybody, and can be atractive to Mexican 9´s

Anything you decide, we can move around 10 class 9 from the MEXICAN ARMY:D

Heres what I will do next unless you all protest.

I will send MORE-SNORE-DRIVE an email or letter descbring the "Big Race" and ask each if they would host and how they would contribute and who they are competing with for the race location based on this poll.
I really think these three are the only possible choices based on current performance and the plaster city promotor who might help more freinds in Mex make it to the race.
I will ask each to offer incentives, contact thier contingency sponsors and advertise the race on thier web site. I will report on this thread what promotor responds and any incentives offered.
Based on this info we can re poll taking the top 2 races from each series off this poll from the promotors that respond and pick a race location and date for the final.
I will start a contingency thread asking for ideas from you for vendors to contact as I plan to mail market these several times. Supply name, address and contact. If you would prefer you can email to me.
I am pushing this as I want to get it settled early so its a done deal and we all can plan for 09.

I will work hard on this but do ask all to be considerate of those running the full MORE-SNORE series when choosing a race as that is very important to us running a series in 09 that we dont upset our series racing ability.

Make it work for all to attend and Dont kill the messenger!

Class 9 “Big Race” 2009

I have volunteered to the many racer’s who are active on a popular off–road racing forum for Class 9 race cars to communicate those racer’s desire to find a host for “The Big Race” in 2009 that would showcase the Class 9 competitors.

The goal is to bring together the largest number of Class 9 competitors possible in 2009 to race for a prestigious win, a large purse, an increased contingency program and other incentives to make the race unique and contribute towards creating the largest entry of racers.

Using an online poll, the racers have shown that DRIVE-MORE-SNORE are the organizations they hope will host an event. Each series has its fans based on professionalism, competition, race dates, cost and regional locations.

To be fair and represent the racer’s opinions an idea was to contact each of you with an identical suggestion. The purpose of this letter is to ask each organization if they have interest in hosting the race and what incentives they would commit to the racers via a return letter to assure no mis-communication.

Your responses will be posted in the on line forum and help the racers determine and vote for which location is best for “The Big Race”

Questions and Incentives
• Do you have interest in hosting “The Big Race” for class 9 competitors?
• What two race dates in your series would benefit you the most by hosting the event?
• What incentives if any would you offer via payback, entry cost or bonus?
• Will you ask contingency contacts for additional contributions for this race?
• If provided with materials and postage, would you mail an invite to all Class 9 driver of record in your series of 2007/2008 to the race?
• Would you promote the race on your organization web site and link the race name to Class 9 somehow?
• What would be the proposed entry fee for Class 9 for this race?
• What is the minimum number of entrants you require to be eligible for incentives?
• Due date for response is post mark December 12, 2008 and review will be the week of December 15, 2008.

I speak for all when I say Thank You for taking the time to read and respond to this suggestion.

We may have to set up an early poll to determine the single race date from each promotors events.

An example is that the Battle of Primm has an early date (Feb) and the promotor is reccomending that race or the MINT date to be thier races of choice if they sponsor "The Big Race"
The Feb date will be real close to our final decision January week 1 and it might be good to know now that it could be the one.

I am thinking about 3 polls now, one for MORE, SNORE and DRIVE that would have the top two dates for each series. If there is a tie on this thread's poll I will extend it to three races from that series.

We all would vote on each promotors poll for the one race in their series that would compete for the final race location.

I will set that up on Monday 12/1/08 if no big issues come out on this post.

I have spoke to Dusty Times regarding a full page ad for one or two issues that would inform those readers of the "Big Race" as soon as we have the location/date finalzied.
I also have put out some info at Kar Tek and plan a hand out for this weekends race.
If you know of other locations for me to mail info to and they will post it for us please email the info or PM me.

I know your trying to do one big race but are you trying to do one for the whole year or one for each series? just curious because you could do one big one for the MORE series like the Lucerne 500 on may 23rd, the Snore MINT march 27th and then one of the drive series later in the year? Keep me posted.

Just the one I am trying to plan this year so far.

Myself and several others have said we would like try a three series like you describe.
In many ways it would be simpler but doubtful it would produce a record number of entires at any one race.

The goal of the "Big Race" is to get max entries at one race and go for it.

With that many drivers I would love to see a 9 pro series out there. 5 races all different race organizations. I know it is to late to pull something together for a full series in 09 but one for 2010 would be awesome. I could see myself running the entire series.

Yo Dave - Let me know if I can help out the cause. I can build a website and do graphics. What about using the "Big Race 2009" as a front for a full Pro 9 series in 2010? I'd also be willing help out with some administration work as well.

Thanks, these are great offers and a series in 2010 would be really fun. I agree that you would have to start early 09 for a sereis the next year and the web design and hosting would do alot for that too. We need to find a "sponsor" to finance the effort!

Thanks for stepping up Dave, like you said it takes a lot of time and isnt always fun.

I've been MIA for far too long and would eventually like to get back to racing but it hasnt been in the cards lately. Maybe Primm, but I've said we're racing too many times in 2008 only to not show up to anything. The first big race was a blast to compete in and hopefully you can set something up that's similar.

Each racing organization should have contact info on each driver of record...not sure if they will give it to you though. I know when Cory B. did the first big race, he set up a website and asked for everyone interested to fill out contact info. I think getting a website started would be a great way to get going...I think that is one of the most important things that made the first race such a success.
