I must get 3 or more per day on my cell phone about the warranty thing. VERY annoying - should be outlawed for sure.

The thing I dont get is how do they expect this cold calling OVER and OVER and OVER again to the SAME people to produce sales? I have NEVER even considered buying anything from someone who called me on the phone. Why would I buy something from these guys? People must do it. Lots of incredibly gullible people out there I suppose.

I was getting them daily for a while. They would tell me that my warantee was about to run out and that I should have it extended. When I asked them what car it was for they would go silent and then go into thier sales pitch. Most of the calls I got were a Washington DC area code. I finally got them to stop when I called the number back and a computer touch tone asked if I wanted to be placed on thier do not call list.

I have a game that I play with telemarketers. My "job" as of late requires me to travel anywhere from 30 minutes to 4 hours a day. This is a ton of windshield time. It never fails that just about the time I am getting into some tunes or a good message I get a call from someone trying to sell me something. What I do now is try to see how long I can keep them on the phone without spending a dime. Sure I burn up some cell minutes, but I haven't come close to going over in years so who cares. If I get another call or need to get off the phone I just hang up.

My record is 45 minutes with some guy from the Phoenix area trying to sell me sawzall blades. I had him quoting me on every tooth configuration, quantities...anything I could think of. I had a client in the car with me, and the salesman on speakerphone the whole time. My client still loves to tell that story every time we meet - he was laughing so hard I thought he was going to cry.

I get the warranty calls also. At first I act surprised and thank them for being so kind for reminding me. I start to play out different scenarios of how the warranty would work...and go on and on. Usually after a few minutes they end up having to ask me the big question...."what is the year, make and model of your vehicle?" It is so hard to keep from laughing at them.....THEY CALLED ME! AND TOLD ME MY WARRANTY WAS ALMOST EXPIRED!.....don't you think they would know that information already?

As soon as I ask them to mail me information, and I'll think about it. That is normally the end of the call.

i get these calls all of the time.

I remember last summer i was at Adam and DJ Jeffery's house. This one telemarketer kept calling about some sort of prescription. You could tell it was one of those Indian telemarketers. We had a recorded message of him saying he would buy us a brand-new PS3. so technically. he owes us a PS3. we kept him on the phone for an hour or two.

good times

Occasionally on the land line, never on my cell and once in a while we get a junk mail notice. Isn't there some kind of nuisance ordinance that could apply to this?

Why don't you guys all add your home, work and cell phone numbers to the National Do Not Call Registry... if they continue to call you can then pursue legal action against them.

They called me today on my way home! Of course its a recording, but this time i stayed on the line for a live person!

"Would you like to know more about an extended warranty for your vehicle?"

"Of course!"

"What is the year/make & model of your car?" he asked

I said the first thing that came to my mind...."1971 Ford Pinto" right after i said it, i started to wonder if they were made back then...

The guy says, "Hmm, our computers don't go back that far..."

I quickly remarked to him, "I've heard that they explode in rear end collisions, Would that be covered under warranty?"

Needless to say, he said I am now on the do not call list :D:D:D

I dont know how i kept from laughing b/c my carpool was sitting right next to me biting her hand as to not laugh out loud. So, the moral of the story is, screw with them, its worth a good laugh ;)

Our numbers are on the registry, and they still keep coming. I just got one while I was making dinner. I pressed one to speak with an operator, told them that I had a bad day and they better take me off their list. Hung up on me.........between these idiots and the one who still have Oboooma steekers on their car...........

The do not call list is fairly useless from my experience. We get these exact calls about 10 times per day on our 911 federal gov lines and have not been able to stop them. We usually hang up but I was dumbfounded the other day when I stayed on the line to talk to the "company"

911, what is your emergency?

recorded voice, that my vehicile was about to expire, press 2 to speak with a representative. (so I press 2)

Male voice answers, "yah"

So I say: "Is this a car warranty company?"

Male voice: "Yah, what you want?"

me:"Well sir your computer is calling a 911 dispatch center and blocking up emegency phone lines, can you please remove our number from your computer?"

Male voice: "well maybe your cop cars need waranties too, they can't keep up with US crooks."

Long dumbfounded pause from me followed by, "sir, can you please just remove our numbers from your dialer"

Response: "F*** you pigs" and phone disconnects.

Yeah never could figure out what the company was and comes in from an out of country dialer that will not be bound by the do not call registry...

Made me smile and definately made the "greatest hits" of calls I have taken in my career...

The "Do Not Call Registry" is virtuously worthless. These modern telemarketers are using auto dialer's that not only are sequential but are also geographical. I have three numbers at my home...all with different prefixes....and I have had a telemarketer nail each one back to back (two out of the three are unlisted). The only way they could do that is to have phone company information of numbers listed at particular addresses.

A long time ago a wise man told me the way to get rid of foe is to hit them in the wallet. Tie up thier lines and personnel and you have tied up their $$$$.......no $$$$ and they just go away.

I wish I was only getting a recorded call.

I am getting calls from ef'ing JAMAICA. That's right. Jamaica!

And here's the kicker, they have an attitude about it!!

They say they are calling for Bank of America and that I forgot to pick up a package!!

I hang up and 5 minutes later it's the same call but some one else doing it. Then I'm the winner of an "International Sweepstakes" and blah blah blah......

Then the other day I get something in the mail. No return address. It's a letter saying that I have won $180,000 and need to call these people to activate something and give my personal info. There's a check for $4750. The check has an address in Oregon. The return address on the letter is Ontario, CANADA!!

They even used Fidelity investments as the letter head. I e-mailed Fidelity about this and they are not involved in anything like that. It's obviously a scam.:mad:

Whatever you guys do don't do it! We get people coming in mad at our Ford dealership thinking it is legit and it is us calling you guys non stop, but no manufacturers have anything to do with these. Just like a telemarketer, and nothing the auto dealers can do to prevent them from calling you guys, but it is in no way affiliated with any dealers, etc.

On a side note, while sitting in one of my college classes with about 40 kids, a direct line to the classroom rings and the professor thinks it is the school running a security check since they just implemented a new system lone behold it is one of these people saying you cars warranty just expired etc. etc.!!!!!!!!!!

After 12 years, I finally canceled my AT&T home phone several months ago. I left some of the phones plugged in 'cause I just didn't get to it. A few weeks ago the phone rings - I'm thinking that is funny, the phone is dead - and it is one of these warantee calls. I hang up on them and try the phone; no dial tone. I call my old number; the phone is disconnected. The only thing I can think of is these calls are extraterrestial. Do do do do, do do do do...

Weird I've had my numbers on the Do Not Call List and I don't get the calls at all...

The weirdness of having a disconnected phone and STILL getting them would work because even if a line is "dead" there is still a number attached to it for reverse 9111 calls.... I actually figured that out in high school... someone called on a disconnected phone and I asked them what number they dialed... come to find out I could receive calls from people but just couldn't make outgoing calls!!

Now that I've moved to North Carolina I get them in the mail about every other day. The best part is that the letters says "Mr. Kavanaugh, we see that you bought a 2003 Ford Ranger two months ago... bla, bla, bla..." Last time I checked I bought the truck new in 2003, not when I arrived in North Carolina two months ago but what do I know.

I’ve never had the luck of having a telemarketer call me on my cell, let alone a warranty call.
