Does anyone run a diesel truck or whatever like out through the desert? Just wondering if it would be good or bad(i dont know why it would be bad). Also what burns hotter, gas or diesel?

The VW TT that's being campaigned by Mark Miller is a turbo diesel. There are multiple threads about it in the "General Discussion" section. There's also a few Hummers and stuff like that that's diesel.

Diesel is the future for racing. Diesel doesnt explode until it gets extremely hot from being compressed in a small area with no escape( combustion chamber). No it is not bad it will be very challenging but rewarding. I could write until my fingers fell off. You will see trophy trucks not volkswagen cars but true trophy trucks running diesels in the future.....promise!!!

Donahoe had a diesel super duty Ford a couple years ago. It was a very nice truck, but that era is gone:cool:, and I don't know where the truck went to. The diesels lack a bit on acceleration, but pulling any gear you like is easy with them. They are heavy motors, but these are all issues that will be dealt with in due time.

My 5.9L Cummins never overheated or even got close. The EGT can get up there on just about any turbo diesel and that sometimes requires easing up on the go pedal for a little while. The actual engine temp on my truck always remained well below critical, even on really hot days in sand washes running around in 4wd.

These newer diesel trucks are designed to haul BIG weight for thousands and thousands of miles. From the factory the majority of diesel trucks have cooling systems that are more than capable of hauling 10,000+lbs up long grades in the middle of summer.
