whats this?

It's a sub forum for the DRIVE series in Plaster City. Thanks RDC for doing this. Here we can ask questions and comment on the DRIVE racing series that is going to dominate the PC area for racing.

Questions, comments and ideas will be discussed here. It is part of the DRIVE philosophy to be public and have input from the racing community to make the series the best out there.

I hope everyone gets behind this group and helps make it the premiere racing series in Southern California. It's rare that a series would enlist ideas from the general public and racers to improve thier product. This is what this group has decided to do. I think for the good of our sport we should all back this effort to bring something good to PC.

Thanks Trey. You hit the nail on the head. Having our own little forum will make it easier for everyone to share ideas.

Over the next couple of days I will set up the forum with a few different categories.

Thanks RDC!

I think its great that you guys are doing this. It's great to hear the PC scene is going to get a boost. The last time I actually raced at PC was in 1989 in a class 7 truck. Did racing decline after Fuds death or before ?? I have been gone from El Cajon since 1992 .I wish I were closer so I could lend a hand and volunteer. YOU GUYS ROCK!!!!

I couldn't really say exactly when racing declined out in PC. I think a lot of it is just the natural rhythm of things. Just like the economy.

Thanks for posting

Hey Tavis. Brian was talking about this forum. We didn't see the need for a forum on our site since most people just come to RDC.

Looks like your truck and mine would fall in the 801 Class if I read the rules correctly.

Doug- I have a question regarding the courses for the series, will you guys use the same course layouts that have been in use the last several years? Honestly we're a little tired of Gypsum Mine road. We have a new (to us) class one that we would like to try out at your Jan 17th race however we would like more course info before entering.

Not speaking for DRIVE, but my understanding of thier series has been to mix up the courses to create less impact on the desert and give the racers a varied terrain. Sounds interesting to me, not the same old torn up stuff that has been presented before.

Drew the course is going to be really really different in a good way.... Don't want to give it away, after the 1st we'll name off some areas that will be ran and no G-Road fyi. Thanks for the interest and the input. See you next month.

I’ll call you today incase you have any other questions. The course we put together for the Jan race is mostly on the East side of PC. There is a little bit on the West. I’m not positive but I am pretty sure some of it hasn’t been run by trucks and buggies since Fud. We tried to reduce switch backs and get some more straight line stuff. We also tried to stay away from extremely sharp turns to avoid leaving 5 ft high burms that the bike and quad riders get hurt on. Ride one weekend no burm. Ride next weekend not expecting a burm and find yourself taking the worst ride of your life.

We will post the map one week before the race. We are holding it back until then because we need to reduce the amount of pre-running on the course before the race. I have seen a course when it was first marked and then seen it again right before the race an it is amazing what a week of pre-running can do. The course won’t be available for pre-running until Thursday night / early Friday morning.

Hope this helps and I’ll talk to you soon.
