Hello Dezert Race fans, Teams, and future volunteers!

DRIVE Off Road Racing will be holding it's inaugural race, The TROPHYLITE 200 on Jan 17 2009.

To meet DRIVE's goal of safe and fair racing, we will need MORE VOLUNTEERS ever!. We want to increase the number of checkpoints and make sure road crossings are fully staffed.

In return, DUNES EDGE RV has committed to help the volunteers by providing a Toy-hauler for the season to hold volunteer meetings in, and clean up after each race. We have more perks for the volunteers in the works...stay tuned! If you would like to sponsor the DRIVE/V4DR volunteers, please contact me. jon@drive-racing.com

If you would like to volunteer and help DRIVE kick-off the TROPHYLITE 200 to a safe an successful start, please register at drive-racing.com. NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED! There is a sign-up in the "Volunteer Zone". Then email me, or post on this thread which volunteer position you would like to staff (see below for more information on positions). If you have any questions about volunteering, email me jon@drive-racing.com

Thanks and hope to see you out in the dezert!

INFORMATION ABOUT THE VOLUNTEER POSITIONS WE NEED TO FILL:

STAGING/START/FINISH (flagman/woman) 2-3 people race day. Get up close and personal with the heavy-metal! Wear headset and receive commands of which flag to wave at each vehicle. Help line up the vehicles for the start of the race.

SPOTTERS 1-2 people on race day. Call in vehicle numbers that whiz by to the start/finish line so that the correct flag can be waved when they get there.

CONTINGENCY 1-2 people the day before the race. Take note of stickers/equip on vehicles so the teams gets their contingency rewards (if they do well!) Get to check out the vehicles up close!!!

ROAD CROSSING GUARDS (we need 4 staffed road crossings) 2-3 people at each crossing on race day. Stop spectator and support vehicle traffic from crossing the course when race vehicles are coming. Fun position! Good spectating! Must be 18years old to direct traffic.

CHECK POINTS (6 fully staffed checkpoints) we need 3-4 people at each checkpoint. Slow the race vehicles as they come by, write down there number and time, and wave them on their way! Must be 18 years old to direct traffic.

RELAY/COMMUNICATIONS Monitor main race frequency on a radio, if you have your own set up and equipment and would like to help out with main race frequency and relay, let us know. HAMs would love this position...you should be familiar with the race course and area.

REGISTRATION 1-2 people on the day / evening before the race. Put sexy wrist bands on your favorite racers!!!!!

ROVER Good for those who like to keep mov'n. Keep an eye out for problems, drive beside course, general assistance. 4WD vehicle recommended.

COURSE SWEEP Race day after the race. Rovers do this job! Making sure all vehicles are safely off of the course.

TEAR DOWN/DESERT CLEAN UP General clean up. There are TONS of things to clean up after the race!
