Looking for someone who has experience with this type of exhaust exit. I'm going to be doing this through the lower bedside in front of the rear wheel on a 2007 F-150 in a few weeks, but am not sure exactly how to work out the fine details. This isn't for a race truck; it's offroad often, but also a daily driver.
1) How far should the tip stick out past the body panel?
2) What's the likelyhood of the exhaust burning the paint or rear wheel/tire like the 1997 F-150's?
3) Does anyone make a flange for the body panel?
4) Pictures for ideas?
Thanks!

Something like that, but I was planning on having a 3" exhaust pipe cut diagonally and then make the hole in the sheetmetal about 1/2" larger in radius than the shape of the cut pipe. The pipe would be centered in the hole.

Remember that Exhaust likes to grow in length quite a bit, so whatever type of exhaust exit should allow for at least 1/4" of growth, some long truck exhausts can grow over an inch in length.

It's custom made. It's on some Oakley sunglasses 2005 Dodge Ram... that's why it looks like the Oalkley O.
Does anyone know of a premade part like that available for purchase?

Maybe ask this person where they got the plate on their exhaust?

The Donahoe Racing Super Duty used a single 5-inch oval tip, and a hole cut in the side of the bed. I believe it was done at Gale Banks facility in Azusa, CA.

i did this to my old ranger. i'll post some pics but what we did was send it out the side with it cut diagnolly-(sp), with the oval beauty mark around it. mine stuck out an inch or so. we bought a nice exhaust tip. in the pic u had, was the exhaust just right behind the bedside, didn't come through? On my truck it sounded good, but sometimes it would rattle as the rpms increased, sometimes.

Fabricating the exhaust flange for the bedside is super easy with proper tools and would take less than an hour, including install.
Make sure there is a gap between the flange and the tail pipe.

thanks *******!:D, if i had to do the exhaust over, i would have put it under the fender, out the side. it is kinda over the top-not neccessary.
